Probably the worst game I have played this year. 1 hour in and I see a flying hog and when my friend builds a house for us only half the building appears, then our hammer starts floating in front of him, I pick it up and we both get a hammer that only one of us can hold at a time (bluetooth hammer lmao).

Anyway this game is a buggy mess and does not seem to have changed much since early access. Cheap cash grab.

As someone who never had the patience nor endurance to finish HL1 (and trust me it's not because of the graphics, I play many games with similar GFX) this remake is absolutely amazing, I would say that this is several orders of magnitude better than HL1 as it just feels like a masterclass update to the original and even motivated me to finish the entire Half Life series (excluding the HL1 DLCs). This remake adds so much new content that doesnt take away from the original but gives more gameplay and does it so much better than the original it's insane.

11/10

Fun and overall very good and refreshing DLC but I find it to be a bit too cryptic and tedious for someone to just dive in to without having a meaty save file already and possibly abusing a wiki page. Would have loved to see some more in game streamlining and also more content on the early floors, that said, I do love the new downpour alternate paths which are essentially what I asked for so I can't complain too much.

I initially disliked this. And I'm still not fond of the way that this DLC feels a bit rushed. But I'd be lying if I said I did not enjoy this, even though it was underwhelming and too easy.

Also, please undo at least some of the TAG1 nerfs

If you're not very skilled in Doom Eternal and intend on playing this on nightmare you might aswell pay to have your balls ripped off. But if you can quickswitch and deal with some unfair situations then this DLC is pretty good, it's weird for me because I like the levels A LOT (visually and in terms of layout and flow) but some arenas are much too unfair to the point where some fights are like 75% luck and 25% skill or something. This is mostly because of annoying things like those exploding egg things in the blood swamps and lots of fodder demons that can ruin your movement, it also doesn't help that the chainsaw hit detection absolutely SUCKS at times and when you REALLY need some invincibility frames and health really quickly having the chainsaw miss can literally force you to replay a super tough segment. Oh, also: this mod will put you in small rooms with Tyrants, just a heads up.

TL;DR: The arenas are pretty unfair, but the map design is great. Probably wanna turn down the difficulty if you want an enjoyable experience.

Early Access Review
Cool game so far, gunplay is awesome, I hope the maps get a bit more interesting though. Otherwise this game is great :)

It's fun, hitscanners still suck though, play on easier difficulties if you just want to have fun. Otherwise the game is great, looks amazing and has great gunplay. 7/10, would be 8-9/10 if I didn't take 30 damage every time I went around a wall on harder difficulties.

Honestly, the majority of negative comments are due to people not being able to learn to play this game, forgetting that DOOM in it's core, is a power fantasy but not a free one, it requires mastery and some built up anger and determination which is what makes beating an arena so satisfying. The base game is very fair and when you die it's TYPICALLY your fault. The DLC on the other hand is a bit of a different story but I like for the most part nevertheless. People also seem to have this idea that this game needs to be similar to DOOM 2016 which is just wrong. Doom Eternal rewards the player for learning to deal with certain enemies, master weapons and use them in fitting scenarios and manage your "economy" of armor, ammo and health. That said. Most of it is pretty easy to manage once you get the hang of it - especially on the easier difficulties.

Great game, no more is needed. Super fast gameplay and awesome mechanics. If you like DOOM, quake, half life, unreal etc this is a perfect game for you!

RENEWED REVIEW: This game is amazing, everything about it, and I mean EVERYTHING I wish I could smash my head against a brick to forget about it only to replay it again lmfao. The movement resonates perfectly with me, being both ridiculous yet non-restrictive to the point of you feeling like you're not even limited by the games limits, which is evident through the multitude of out-of-bounds exploits you can perform for speedrunning etc. DUSKWORLD is very fun (although a bit inactive) but the true reason I keep playing is the DUSK SDK, otherwise known as DAWN. And oh man oh man, making and playing new material for a game so amazing is just the best experience ever. Sadly the SDK isn't as unrestrictive as the games movement and doesn't allow you to do a lot of the things that the base game allows, but it is still a work in progress so I'm sure we'll get to that at some point.

All in all, this game is a solid 9.8/10 I'm hesitant to give a perfect score as I believe no game to be perfect and flawless, but the minor improvements that could be made are entirely subjective and quite arbitrary, for example, I think the game itself could feature more content, whether in the form of DLC's, more duskworld maps or other campaigns you can very much play this game for 12 ish hours, finish it then resort to never playing it again.
