Joining Slay The Spire and Monster Train on my pantheon of "just one more run" games when it's 3 in the morning and I really should be sleeping instead, Balatro is digital crack in its purest form. If you know how to play poker, you know how to play Balatro, but you also really don't know how to play Balatro until you've... well, played Balatro. Dive in, crunch the numbers, get mad when you inevitably lose a run because your Cavendish breaks (it WILL happen), curse the Wheel of Fortune for not activating once in 15 uses in a run. And then do it all over and over again as you conquer challenge runs, unlock all the jokers and send your scores into the stratosphere. May Jimbo smile upon you.

Almost 130 hours into my save, I am now on the game's final act and can easily tell you that Baldur's Gate 3 not only lives up to the reputation that the series has, in many ways it surpasses them. Larian Studios have crafted an absolute masterpiece and I'm so excited to continue to watch this game change and evolve as more updates come in. Bravo, Larian.

So far, this has been a great alternative to the lack of ability to meet in person for D&D sessions. Helps that the game runs well on my mid spec laptop, too. cRPGs have always been tough for me to get into, but just like Elden Ring did for Souls games, I think Kingmaker has awoken a new love affair with a game genre for me.

My "gateway" Souls game. If you've ever been like me and have looked upon the Souls games with admiration but thought "These look AMAZING but there's no way I could actually be good enough to play them" ...give this one a try. Elden Ring has managed to take those fears of mine completely away just through how accessible it is to... well, to someone like me. But don't get me wrong, accessible does -not- mean "easy". I've had to "git gud" in my time here, but the sheer scope and beauty of this game has made that process so much fun. I have a lot of time left in my future with Elden Ring, but I am also very much looking forward to exploring not only the Souls series itself, but other "Souls-like" games in depth in the future. And I don't think I'd be at this point without how good of a game Elden Ring actually is.

Roguelike that takes features popular across the genre and compartmentalizes them into a beautiful 16 bit package. Plenty of classes and opportunities for replayability. Tsngledeep is simple enough to be friendly to those new to the roguelike genre but complex enough that veterans will still get their enjoyment. Definitely worth checking out for sure

Probably the best "walking simulator" I've ever played. Edith Finch takes you through the story of her family and, along the way, you will experience just about every emotion possible. What this game lacks in length (clocking in at just above 2 hours here) it more than makes up for in both charm and heart. If these games are your thing, buy this. You won't regret it.
