Total Playtime: 505.9 Hours | 100% Achievements Earned
Despite the tone of this review, let me be clear: I love Helldivers 2. But loving a game means appreciating it for both its brilliance and its blemishes. After over 500 hours, here's my honest take.

🟢 What It Gets Right

⚔️ High-Octane, Satisfying Combat
The moment-to-moment gameplay is a blast. Combat feels impactful, stratagem inputting is incredibly rewarding when done cleanly, and calling in hell from orbit is always satisfying. Whether you're holding the line or sprinting to extract, it's edge-of-your-seat fun.

🤝 True Co-op Excellence
Helldivers 2 requires teamwork. Chaos, laughter, panic, and triumph are all shared, making every mission memorable with the right squad. Voice comms elevate the experience, and working together to beat the odds is the heart of the game.

🚀 The Three Factions – Each With Unique Flavor
  • Bots: The most fun, hands down. Their battlefield presence is explosive and tense, like a warzone straight out of a sci-fi film.
  • Bugs: Swarm you in endless hordes—it's a full-on survival gauntlet.
  • Illuminate: Eerie and ghostly, with a “zombie apocalypse” vibe. Easiest of the three, but the aesthetic hits hard.

🌌 Galactic War Feels Larger Than You
Contributing to the community-driven war effort adds real purpose. Every planet liberated feels earned, and the evolving front keeps you invested. However, because the game assumes you understand the system, contribution can feel sort of vague.

🚀 Stratagem Variety
Whether you're calling in orbital strikes or deploying turrets, stratagems offer creativity and tactical depth that elevate each encounter.

🔴 Where It Falls Flat

🐞 Bugs... The Technical Kind
Despite being out for over a year, many long-standing bugs still haven’t been addressed. Some missions are perfectly smooth; others break entirely due to glitched objectives. Difficulty 10 can range from eerily silent to unplayably brutal, with no explanation. It’s inconsistent and frustrating.

🛡️ Armor Passives – Mostly Useless
Only 2 or 3 armor passives are actually worthwhile. Most others feel irrelevant, leading to very limited meaningful loadout diversity.

🔐 Progression Feels Hollow After Rank 20
Most gear unlocks by Rank 20, despite the level cap being 150. Even with the recent DSS system, progression feels unrewarding. Samples themselves are largely meaningless outside a few tech unlocks.

🎨 No Real Customization
Outside loadouts, there’s nothing to personalize. No weapon mods, no visual tweaks beyond choosing an armor type, helmet, and cape. Helmet and cape are purely cosmetic. That’s it. Because the armors all follow specific trims, it's easy to mismatch how you look which can be really crappy for those that like to get creative on appearance.

🎖️ Warbonds: Earnable, But Shallow
It’s a win that Warbonds can be earned in-game (kudos for that), but the content is light. You can max out a new bond in a few hours, which leaves little to chase.

🧪 Updates Feel Unpolished
Every patch introduces new bugs or strange behavior. Some features clearly weren't tested thoroughly. The player experience often suffers right after updates, and it shows.

⚖️ Final Thoughts

Helldivers 2 is a game I keep coming back to. I love it despite its flaws—but I won’t pretend they don’t exist. It feels rushed at times, with long-unfixed bugs, poor balancing, and underwhelming progression systems. Yet, the core gameplay is so strong, so fun, that I can’t stop playing.

This is my 3rd or 4th revision of this review, and it’s not out of bitterness—it’s because I care. This game is special, and I want to see it live up to its potential.

🌟 Verdict: Still Overwhelmingly Positive, But With a Side of Disappointment
Bring a squad, bring your stratagems, and bring your patience. For Super Earth!
