I bought this game partially out of curiosity and partially for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles.

I expected something along the lines of a porn game with a half microwaved plot slapped on-top, written by some mid-western senior who blares the soviet anthem on his phone and has an unhealthy obsession with Russia. This game turned out to be much better than that.

There are explicit mentions of sex happening, but I did not install the 18+ patch so these scenes just fade to black as soon as they start. In the ~2.3 hours of playtime, there are three or so sex scenes. I agree with the negative reviews, if you're here to sift through 45 minutes of dialogue just to get to a sex scene just go to e621. The game was very enjoyable even without the sex scenes, sotry seems to be the meat of this game.

All the characters that you interact with are fleshed out beyond simple caricatures, and the protagonist isn't a simple soulless blank slate for you to project yourself onto. Your character has some backstory, the NPCs have some backstory, hell the fictional communist utopia has a decent backstory and the story actually uses these. The theme of a woman being really forward with her fondness of you does push the story to a noticeably unrealistic direction at times, but for the majority of the time it was more than believable enough to be immersive. Story was well paced, I never felt the urge to skip through dialouge like I did with DDLC. Outside of interactions with the NPCs, theres a decent amount of mystery and drama with how the plane crash happened, which is cool. The game pokes fun at itself multiple times, it doesn't take itself too seriouly. Made me laugh a few times. Ending was satisfying and enough on it's own but it had enough of a cliffhanger to leave room for a sequel.

If a dating sim is meant to simulate the feeling of being infatuated and someone being infatuated with you (I'm not going to say it simulates the feeling of being in love with someone because I've never experienced it IRL and therefore cannot compare), then I'd say it does a pretty damn good job. I cried quite a bit. Not sure if it was out of self pity or something, but the story managed to provoke me enough so hey, I got something out of it.

Pretty damn good.
