Wow, what an experience Dying Light is! The best way I can describe it is...zombies and parkour with an open world twist.

The game revolves around an undercover agent named Kyle Crane who is sent to infiltrate a quarantine zone in a city called Harran. As the game progresses, you get to run (or walk) around a biter-infested city that has one of the best dynamic day and night cycles I've ever experienced.

This atmospheric day-night cycle changes the game drastically too, as the biters become more aggressive and more difficult to deal with, after hours. You'll see what I mean (and what it does to your heart rate) if you explore the city during night time.

Then there's the climbable structures and buildings that support a fabulous parkour system to play with. It allows you to escape the zombies and pull off a chain of stunts that you may not have done/seen before.

Focused mainly on weapons-based combat and parkour, it can be a blast to play, especially in multiplayer! Highly recommended and even more so during the Steam sales!

What is there to be said about this game that's not been said already by the 100,000+ plus reviewers here on Steam?

The game's one that you can play with friends or by yourself online with the thousands, if not tens of thousands, of other gamers on Steam, or indeed other players on various platforms! Relentless fun and games that can be as fun at times as they are infuriating (depending on who you play with) and if some of the rounds don't turn into Russian roulette trying to score goals, etc. "The game is easy to play, but hard to master" - that's one way of putting it as other reviewers have also said.

My main gripe (apart from the gambling/lottery system of the crates and no Steam marketplace for the buying and selling of items in game) is the toxic community/game members that you encounter along the way. Some are rude or disrespectful, others bossy and think they own the servers you play on. On rare occasions players are just plain nasty and very aggressive. Please, chill, have a pill, it's simply a game.

If you've not already got a copy of this game, I'd recommend getting one. Don't pay full price though - the developers have already earned enough. Better to get it on sale.

With close to a hundred hours play time in total, I can safely say this was one of the games I've enjoyed the most on Steam. Only a few others from Valve like Half Life 2 and Left 4 Dead can compete with that. It still plays beautifully over 10 years after it was released and is one I'll be revisiting again and again. Since its release, the game has had a number of community modifications added to it, not least of which are the zombie themed ones which can be fun to play, especially if you're looking to get those extra achievements!

Without question one of the finest games (if not the finest) available on Steam!

I'll keep this review short and to the point as many, many others have already shared similar experiences to mine with Valve's masterpiece.

Pros:

Brilliant story driven plot with great music, script, sound effects and atmosphere
Excellent intuitive menu system - easy to use
Gameplay is fabulous with a single player AI that is a cut above lots of other games out there
Amazing graphics and physics engine (even to this day over 11 years after the game was released)

Cons:

None i can think of, apart from some problems getting one or two achievements - very minor though!
