I wanted to play this but without basic Xinput support it's not happening. Seemed like a cool premise but a full night of Googling, unplugging, replugging, running as admin couldn't fix it and it's simply not worth the effort for such a game.

Dark Souls II is not nearly as well made as Dark Souls. The enemies have lazy design, including the bosses:

-their character models rotate during attack animations rendering the prediction of the attack useless

-they use moves that completely disregard a shield and do massive damage rendering blocking useless

-i-frames of rolling are completely inconsistent making dodging worthless when EVERY enemy has an attack range too large for rolling out of

-enemy ranged attacks still track the player making skilled use of movement useless.

I understand that it's "hard" and "unforgiving" but that certainly doesn't haven't have to mean cheap.
It makes the game boring, un-fun, and unoriginal.

-The bosses aren't interesting and are just pure B.S. to fight.

-The NPCs are cardboard

-The locations are okay-ish. While the graphics have improved the environments themselves are worse)

If you happen to catch the game on sale, great. I have played far enough to beat it, and after I will be done. DS3 looks very promising, I can only hope they've improved from this game by going backward to DS1.

(Not to mention PvP is still pretty much the worst online experience of the decade)

Early Access Review
For an early access game this is IMPRESSIVE. The concept was cool to start with. This game takes the excitement of the large scale open ended battles from games like Battlefront and gives them the technical level of Star Citizen.

Real time boarding? Check
Customization? Check
Fleet-scale battles? Check
FPS AND ship-to-ship combat? Check
Disabling a cruiser piece by piece on foot and escaping in one of the enemy fighters? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ check.

This game has delivered mechanics other high profile devs have promised but failed to deliver on. Of course it's still early access, but do yourself a favor and check it out, and also help the devs!

This is not the best game in the world, but it is a lot of fun. The music, voice acting, and graphics do a great job of making the game look and feel like the film.

There are a few animations that could've used more polish, but all-in-all this is a fun romp through the new Star Trek cinematic universe.

Early Access Review
I really don't understand why more people don't play this game! It doesn't have a lot of maps or SP content, but what's there is brilliant! The mechanics are very solid and exciting.

The amount of possibilities in any given mission mixed with the amazing attention to detail make a game that is not only incredibly fun and diverse, but wonderful to look at.

It's not easy to master but it's worth the effort just to wander through all its incredible tools.
