after recent news game will no longer be updated, pack it up boys it was fun while it lasted, just play l4d2 at this point now

EDIT: i'll update more serious stuff on the review since a friend thought this was a meme

The game is hard to enjoy for new players because it really takes a while to get going with the flow of the game, having to figure out the card system + in-game currency(copper and skulls) + rarities of weapons + which attachments are better/worse and for which weapons to get the most out of, can be overwhelming for someone trying to get into the game.

There are 4 main types of zombies ridden that can be identified from a glance (which is imperative for these types of games) that have variants which cannot be identified from a glance (which is imperative for these types of games)(deja vu?).
For the sake of simplicity they're:
1. tall
2. fat
3. skinny
4. tentacle
But by the time you realize which variant of these zombies ridden (there's 12 in total) are, it's too late because they're already attacking you.
At the very least the Snitches and Sleepers can be identified easily, albeit the latter is more hidden it's still noticeable.

Paid DLC, which is a shame since the game already costs a fortune, expands on the story and adds new types of enemies called the Cultists, which don't have variants and you actually can identify them from a glance (which is imperative for these types of games)(deja vu?).

The game allows you to pick up runs wherever you left off which is a good thing, but the limited continues instantly negates that, as running out of them forces you to restart your run from the beginning or a checkpoint if the act allows it, but without any of the stuff you previously picked up. Either give me unlimited continues or zero, no in-between, please. Unlimited continues gives you more room for trial and error, zero continues makes the player bring their best from the get-go, limited continues fails to provide both.

Every new run, depending on the map, has different paths you can take, and has modifiers at the beginning of each act to give more replayability value which is a good thing, although some of the modifiers force certain playstyles and can be more of a chore than fun if any at all. On higher difficulties some players straight up refuse to play or just re-roll the modifiers in a brand new run, which I think defeats the purpose of some of them. Replayability only goes up with mod/workshop support, of which the developers seem to be against.

I don't really have anything against the votekick system since at first there wasn't one at all, and just like most people I don't like it when there's griefing of the sort, but the AFK detection could definitely be a lot shorter.

The game only really becomes enjoyable after (surprise surprise!) you unlock every single card and survivor cleaner, which takes several hours (or days, depending on your real life schedule), but by the time you unlock everything and play for a little bit the rush wears off.

The game had a lot of potential, under the right circumstances it can still be fun. But had the game not cost a fortune, not had so much DLC that also cost a fortune, not tried so desperately to be a "Left 4 Dead killer", and had at the very least tried to stay alive for more than 2 years (with a playerbase that is slowly getting smaller, remember at the beginning of this review that the developers stopped updating the game?) then it's hard to recommend this game to new players given how unfriendly it is to get used to.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still play the game to get 100% steam achievements eventually, and I can still occasionally play it with friends, but after that I might just go play other games that also have the formula of "4 player kill enemy go boom" like Left 4 Dead, Deep Rock Galactic, and Vermintide, among others...

tl;dr game costs a fortune, too many foreign mechanics for new players to learn, some enemies are hard to notice from a glance, it had potential but devs stopped updating the game.
Do not recommend, sorry.

Tutorial doesn't explain how to attack enemies and I got bored trying to figure it out.
Feels like a mobile game too.

tl;dr: If you don't like idle games then you probably won't enjoy Farm Together.

As soon as you start playing the game it becomes obvious in only a matter of minutes that it's just another idle game with no replayability value. I guess it could be considered a "semi-idle" game if that could be a thing, since you're not exactly standing still all the time, but ultimately you are just waiting for numbers to go up. The only difference from this idle game to the "traditional" ones is that instead of it being in a 2D plane with a bunch of buttons and progress bars on your screen, this one is 3D and you have to walk to each button, metaphorically speaking.

Basically you plant a crop, you wait for it to grow, you sell your crops, you get the money, you plant more crops, rinse and repeat. There's also in-game quests and steam achievement to give people a sense of completion when they stare at their screen for hours on end waiting for virtual lettuce to grow. People might attempt at an argument by saying that there's more things to do instead of waiting for plants to grow such as feeding barnyard animals, fishing, or even letting your game run in the background while you do something else at a website or real life... but that is the exact definition of what an idle game is. If you're not waiting for item A to be collectable, you're instead waiting for item B to be collectable, simple as that.

There's not much to this game other than being a cutesy idle farming simulator, and you can talk with other people online too I guess? My point is if you're not into idle games, then you probably won't enjoy this game.
You can still buy it if you feel like supporting the developers since they made great games in the past, but at that point you might as well buy their previous games instead.

Pros:
*Easy to learn.
*Large cast of characters with their own personalities.
*Unique maps.
*Very addicting.
*Catchy soundtrack.

Cons:
*Hard to master.
*You are often matched with players of higher leagues than yours.
*You gain absolutely no EXP after finishing a race uploaded on the workshop.
*Maximum amount of wins in a race is limited to 3 at all times (you can't change those options).
*Graphics on the menu, replays, or loading screens may appear broken or corrupted at random (they usually disappear after restarting the game).

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This game can be very addicting, in the way that it will make you lose track of time.
Games usually last between 3-12 minutes, depending on how many players are racing and their skill levels. Even though replays prove the average match time, it still feels a lot less than that. You'll probably say "just one more match" over and over again.
The community is very friendly, but also very toxic. It's a 50/50 thing actually. While there are a lot of egocentric people who taunt in the chat after winning and whine after losing, there is also a lot of people who legitimately just play to have fun without caring wether they win or lose.
This game is fun and simple, yet provides lots of heart-pounding action with some catchy fast-paced music on the background, which is why I would recommend this to some people.

tl;dr- Game itself is fun and addicting. Half of the community is toxic. Workshop maps are subjective and focused on higher leagues. It's fun to play with friends.

This game is quite good for people who are looking for a challenge, takes an obscenely small amount of data on your computer (It installs in less than 10 seconds), is an excellent time-waster and has some sweet chiptune music.

This game improves reflexes and visual perception if you're persistent and determined enough to get the achievements.
Don't take on slower levels on the hopes of trying to beat the one you're currently in. If you want that level completed, you need to train on that level and not the other ones.

And honestly, the flashing colors are not really that hard on your eye (at least I never felt anything that could be considered harmful on mine. The only side-effect this game has given me is that I blink less often).

Although the plot is nonsencial and the hitbox of things that hurt you are questionable, it is a fun game.
It's good for killing your time or when you have nothing else to do, and also provides a good challenge if you're going for 100% completion.

The astonishing 2 fps of gameplay on the lowest settings possible and the fact that lightly tapping your mouse makes your screen go flying at the speed of sound makes this game absolutely unplayable. I might change my recommendation after they fix this issue, but for now, back to the dusty shelf it goes.

The game has all the jokes and atmosphere you would expect from the Borderlands series. Totally worth buying.
