The game has solid gun animations, but that’s where the positives end. The shard card system is often praised for adding variety to each round, but in practice, it creates more confusion than depth. It disrupts consistency and undermines any attempt at real strategy. That may not be the intended outcome, but it's what players are left with.

This isn’t a tactical competitive shooter. If you're looking for that, look elsewhere. When RNG is baked into the core mechanics, you’re not rewarding skill—you’re gambling. FragPunk embraces that, and it kills any serious competitive potential.

The visual design only makes things worse. The character models are wildly over-designed and clash hard with the rest of the game's aesthetic. You've got realistic weapons and semi-grounded characters, then you're hit with stylized animations that look ripped from a 2D comic. The result is a visual mess. The game clearly doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s stuck between realism and style, and fails at both.
