Early Access Review
Tried this during a Free Weekend.
Janky, but I think it's heading into the right direction.
It's early access for a reason...

This game offers a gameplay style and overall vibe reminiscent of Dragon Age: Origins, with a focus on real-time strategy combined with a pause mechanic. You control a party of characters, each possessing unique abilities, which provides tactical depth and allows for creative combat strategies. Unlike Dragon Age, this game leans more heavily toward action-oriented gameplay and combat, with less emphasis on traditional RPG features such as extensive dialogue trees, intricate character backstories, and deep interactions with NPCs.

The story it presents is relatively short and serves as a backdrop to the gameplay itself, prioritizing immersive combat sequences and strategic engagements. While this might not satisfy those looking for a rich narrative experience, it delivers highly engaging battles that make it stand out. Because of this combat emphasis, I would strongly recommend playing on hard difficulty. Lower settings tend to trivialize most encounters, removing much of the challenge and excitement. On hard difficulty, my playthrough lasted around 11 hours, striking a satisfying balance between challenge and enjoyment.

The game’s affordability is another highlight—I picked it up for less than 2€ on sale, and for the price, it’s quite a steal. If you’re looking for a game that delivers fast-paced tactical combat with a touch of strategic depth, this one is worth checking out.

A fun, bite-sized, and free point-and-click adventure game, I fully experienced on the Steam Deck.

A small little indie game.
Exploration at its core.

I enjoyed my 6.5 hours.

Picked this up on a sale for around €2. Did a blind playthrough on extreme difficulty, around 15+ hours, all quests. Pretty good old school game 8/10. Makes me curious to check out the sequel, The Technomancer...

Worldbuilding and story are fine. Combat is pretty good for it's time, can feel clunky nowadays, but hey I'm the guy that likes old school games, like the Witcher 1. The RPG mechanics are great. Your build, skills and equipment upgrades definitely make you feel stronger and I was able to get through the game blind on max difficulty, kinda made a hybrid style build to get to the end. Yes the first act was the hardest...

A Solid Review
A previous generation game, so expect a somewhat old school vibe across the board. But if you don't mind that, this game is a neat hidden gem. 8.1/10 ,

The game started kinda slow, especially combat seemed somewhat lacking and simple, but as you level up you can make some neat builds. There's definitely a big sense of build progression in the game as you become stronger. Take care this game can be pretty hard on ALL difficulties, if you don't have a decent build.

The story and worldbuilding was pretty great. it's not too cliche, it has some interesting twists and characters.

Also this game should be playable with a gamepad, but the game for some reason doesn't recognize my x360 gamepad so I just played with KB/M.

Personal thoughts
I went in practically blind and had low expectations because of other reviews and it scoring lower on critics. Kinda felt a little awkward the first hour in. But the game started becoming better near the second half of the first act. This was also the moment I discovered how hard this game actually is. Well not that hard, but you definitely need a decent build on the 2 higher difficulties.

Yes I did go for 100% achievement completion, took around 30 hours.

Tips for new players, Spoilers ahead
I did my first playthrough (around 17 hours with no dialogue skipping) without any guides on the 3rd hardest difficulty, thus completely blind and I must say:

Gameplay tips/spoiler
The end boss was a weird shift in gameplay on how you have to beat the boss compared to the other foes you faced up until then. So I would advise going for a hybrid build even on lower difficulties, since they can be pretty hard as well. A ranger/pyromancer or warrior/pyromancer build works just fine and you will be hacking away at bosses and mobs once you started reaching act 2-3. Also try to use you companions wisely, be letting them tank or take aggro. The ranger hybrid is definitely the most ez of the two builds, since you get to dodge which has a longer window to prevent dmg than the warrior which has no dodge, only parry/block.

If you're only gonna play once, story spoiler
Finished this game twice as there's an evil and good playthrough according to the choices you make. If you're planning on playing this game only once I would advise going for the good playthrough as this ending has one more cutscene which functions somewhat as an epilogue whilst the other doesn't have this, thus ending the story abruptly... Although playing the evil path does something special to your character

My thoughts
8/10
Definitely is kind of an old school game with jankiness. If you don't mind scratching your head now and then with the quests, searching for help online, this game is pretty great. Worldbuilding & story is very neat aswell. The combat gameplay itself is kinda basic, but again it's 2002. I'd say what kept me going to finish this game was the interesting story, atmosphere & the world Arkane Studio built.

Tips for new players
I used the mod Arx Liberatis which makes the game compatible for current gen PCs.
To complete the game I also made use of a walkthrough guide here and there, because some quests were pretty hard to complete, for example finding specific quest items or interacting with certain NPC's.

I'd also suggest going for a warrior/mage combo build with potion-crafting for your first playthrough. This game has some pretty hard enemies if you aren't prepared.
