Pleasure fisherman here. Not played it long but i've enjoyed it so far.

One grumble i have, as an avid fisherman, i love float fishing here in the UK, be it river or lake, but the very low selection of floats is a little dissapointing, im sure there will be a DLC with lots of floats soon though. Especially after playing theHunter and the DLC that game has.

I would love a camera in camera view of the actual float aswel. you could implement it in the top right corner while fishing of a close up camera shot of the float in the water, and judge your striking based on that, rather than the very predictible generic float icon in the bottom right. For me that would be a game changer in quality of the game.

Ill look forward to a european reserve aswell with hopefully Carp fishing using ledgering and that angle of fishing, a fly fishing DLC wouldnt be a bad shout either.

The game looks great and plays okay, i like the ability to cast manually, like a golf game using the mouse to swing the club to determine the power, but a little better implementation of that mechanic wouldnt go a miss, pretty tough to actually make accurate casts without over shooting your desired area then reeling into position.

In its current state i would recommend this game but it is very "Americanised" in its current state. Price isnt too bad for a new release but we all know DLC is on the way.

If a dev reads this. PLEASE consider the camera in camera view of a float, or even a spinner rig so we can actually watch the float be nibbled and taken in real time

making a negative review purely for the state of the EU servers, the queues, the log in errors and the absolute disgrace that is the games launch.

The game itself is pretty decent, i will alter this review once those issues are addressed.

This wasnt instant but it does work. Took about 30 minutes to activate. my SWTOR account on thier website shows me as a subscriber now.

At the time of writing this i have had nothing but great fun playing Valheim!

For an early access game it is well polished and the art style personally i love. Survival Crafting games are mine and my brothers passion and we only get time to play together during the weekends because of work during the week.

We both agreed to play this game without googling anything to help us....

In the end we had to give in for 2 reasons, this has really annoyed me, and this is why...

SPOILERS!!

1) Boars! - The Rune tells you to go quietly to the boars and let them eat of your stock... So we assumed you sneaked up to them with food they like to eat and then they would follow you... This is not the case :( (we tried EVERYTHING you could think of)

Googled answer:
You have to let the boars chase you... you then trap them in a pen youve pre built (using a gate) and "drop" food on the floor for them to eat..

This was really miss-leading and annoying that we had to google how to tame boars.... the Rune completely throws you off.

2) FISHING! - We love fishing in survival crafting games and was excited to get stuck in... After 3 weekends of playing I gave in an googled it..

Googled Answer:
You have to BUY a fishing rod from a vendor hidden in the black forest.... cmon!! you even have to buy bait...

This completely ruined my expectation of being able to craft a fishing rod... I had found Wood, FineWood and CoreWood before we gave up on how to craft a fishing rod..

For the Developers... You could add a Sinew to the first boss Eikthyr that opened up the crafting of rods... just like its the only way to make a pickaxe..

Bait (worms) could be found as an extra from harvesting plants/crops like carrots, or carrot seeds.

The need to BUY a fishing rod and bait is crap IMO, and that of my brothers.

I still recommend this game, its fantastic :)

I have a love/hate relationship with this game but the love far outweighs the hate.

Every alpha release i reinstall it and crack on and play it again and again because it really is a great survival base building game.

The graphics arnt top notch, the audio isnt super amazing (just visit a female NPC Trader and listen to her deep voice that is used on the male traders :) makes me laugh every time). Even the gameplay can be a bit funky at times.

All that aside the game is great, solo or like i play which is co-op with my brother using the dedi server it comes with in the steam tools. Its not overly hard to get it up and running, and we enjoy playing most weekends.

The game has changed so much over the years but each alpha is a fresh take and very fun to play around with. Yes im a fan of this genre and i am a fan of this game.

I would recommend it if you enjoy seeing how good your survival skills are.

Also the mod support is fantastic. I only use a few visual mods like using SMX from Nexus which is excellent.

NON AVX CPU's DO NOT BUY!

At time of writing i have requested a refund

Ubisoft have screwed a lot of players over by NOT stating that cpus with AVX would be required and the system requirements were changed secretly between Oct 2nd and Oct 3rd

Becuase i have a 1st generation i7 which doesnt have AVX the game just crashes at startup.

Im totally disgusted in what looks like a great game that despite how good my system is, it will not run Odessey.

IF Ubisoft patch the AVX issue like they have done with Origins and The Crew 2 i may consider changing my review.

Very dissapointed with this for PC. I get alot of graphical lag and stuttering and if you own the original (which im reinstalling as i type this so i can enjoy the game again) dont bother with this, get the original.

Bitterly dissapointed and feel let down :(

Great fun and perfect for those times when you want to line up the perfect shot and see exactly how to pop an eye out....

'Bullet-Cam' feature is spectacular. especialy when you manage to shoot a grenade attached to an enemy over 100 yards away and watch as not only he blows up but also his mates around him.

The added bonus of 'Bullet-Cam' in co-op and mulitplayer makes this a game worth buying if you THINK you can shoot.

Despite its aging graphics and sometimes frustraiting combat, this game is a brilliant strategy mixed with realtime combat allowing complete user desicion.
