I've been playing call of the wild games for nearly a decade. I cannot recommend the game because over the past Avalanche has not only left many issues (lack of a full screen mode, any form of upscaling, etc) unaddressed in their older games, but they are now releasing new games which also lack basic features, despite having thated that these would be added before release. If you contact support they say that these features are present, but will give you advice like "to achieve a resolution lower than you display resolution you need to lower your system resolution (instead of lowering full screen resolution in the game).

I'm going to describe what a typical player will experience while playing The Angler. Then you'll have all the information needed to decide if it's worth your time/money. The following is Satire. If you don't know what that is. Read a book, get a grip, and laugh. It's ok.

1. Each map has your reputation score. The rep score maxes at 1000. You'll have to perform different tasks/chores to earn points. Each task/chore has a value between 5-35 points. So, not only does it take a lot of time, most of these tasks have zero to do with fishing. Oh, and all the best gear can't be purchased until you have the required rep score. So prepare yourself to search for infected trees, invasive plants, radio transmitters, and dinosaur bones! Yeah!

2. Ah, finally have the rep score! Now I can buy the best gear! But wait, there's more! You'll also need gold , diamond, and legendary tokens! What's that you ask? Well, each fish caught is ranked. Bronze, silver, gold, diamond, or legendary. You're awarded one token for each gold, diamond, or legendary fish you catch. All the best gear not only requires the rep score, but gold, diamond, and legendary tokens too! Double Yeah! (whispers) oh, you'll need in-game credits too, but i think that's self-explanatory. BOOM!

3. Legendary fish sound well, legendary. You must need the best gear to catch those, right? Awe, bless your heart. You see, the first dozen times, you'll need to use regular gear that's WAY UNDER POWERED but don't worry, it'll only take 45 minutes to reel them in and you might only break the line two or three times..(Nervous chuckle) because you'll need well, like 5 legendary tokens to buy the best rod (Whispers more softly) and 5 more for the best reel. Triple Yeah! BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!!!

4. Finally, I have all the best gear. That took forever! At least now, It'll be easier to catch the biggest fish. (Even softer whisper) now that you have the best gear, you don't need to catch anymore legendary fish. Wait, What? Yep, You'll find a bigger selection of fishing gear to buy at a yard sale than you will at the in-game store. (Deep breath, long sigh...) Well we do have jack-o-lantern and dinosaur heads.....STOP! You prefer paws? Have them too. UGH. I think I'm just going to turn around...You can't. What? You've made a cast, can't turn around unless you reel in. HUH? Try it, you can't. WAIT! why can I only turn my body from the waist-up? Two words...Game Mechanics. It kinda works though, don't you agree? HELL NO! What if the fish swims behind me? Um, Submit a support ticket? Then you'll fix it? oh ha ha, oh no, no, no ha ha. that's funny, no, no. Well what do you do with the support tickets then? What do you mean?...WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE TICKETS? "crickets" Um, ah, um....Don't know. Don't think we've ever answered one before..."crickets"

5. Conference room - Avalanche studios - January 2025. "Gentlemen, after careful consideration we've decided to cease any further updates for Call of the Wild: The Angler." *Staff murmurs* One brave soul stands to speak. "I told you mini games involving grilling wouldn't work in a fishing game!" "Hey, that's unfair!" "We surveyed 25 pre-teens and almost half of them said it didn't suck!" *Groans* "What are we supposed to do now?" "Well, one things for sure" "We have to make room in the office, so I need a couple volunteers to take down the forts we made from unread support tickets"
