A great upgrade to the first game. Progressing feels much less like RNG from what island you get, plus there are new special boons to give you advantages and you can choose between one of two islands on level up. Also a lot more options to spread your buildings out a bit more (packing them in densely is still the goal, but there's new ways to colonize new spaces) and a lot more variety in mechanics and placement to think about. Basically a lot more options to get yourself unstuck and keep a run going. But the core minimalist gameplay is still there - easy to learn, hard to master, very relaxing in the process.

I loved the dreamlike atmosphere and I think it allows the narrative aspect to be a bit vague and have some mystery without feeling frustrating, the story is being driven by a lot of emotion and symbolism and vibes instead of distinct plot points... much like music, for that matter, so it fits really well.

I enjoyed the puzzles, there was a good mix of easy and challenging ones and generally you can always go back and play more music to grow the tree and get more stuff unlocked.

I had some nitpicks in the actual music playing part around why certain songs chose those keys to hit, sometimes the melody you are following or the instrument you're meant to be playing is not obvious or not consistent - its very confusing to be playing a piano one moment and then following a guitar or vocal part the next and kinda wish it was always piano or at least the same instrument throughout one song. But that's such a minor thing and I can get over that. Also I did like that there was a good variety of types of music, you had emotional piano classical stuff, pop music, electronic, even swing/jazz.

overall, very good game and I was surprised by how much I liked it!

I did not expect to enjoy DOOM as much as I did. The shooting and combat feel incredible, and it hits the perfect balance of a flow state without being truly mindless, and just enough challenge to keep you engaged. I love the lore and worldbuilding, and you can totally ignore it and just rip and tear if you want. And obviously the soundtrack is just incredibly perfect.

They've really managed to do the impossible on this one - keep everything that gives Oblivion its charm, including the voice lines, the quests, the writing, the MUSIC, the weird and yet iconically unique features like the NPC dialogue chatter and the persuasion wheel... and improve on only the parts that made it harder to get into in the modern day, the graphics, the leveling system, the combat. Even the choice to add a few new VAs and keep the old ones is a perfect compromise between new and old.

My only, really tiny nitpick is a few of the UI menus aren't super intuitive, and I think a lot of important NPCs do not look anything like how they used to (or, at least they don't match how I imagined them to look). I also occasionally get a few crashes, though its more stable than the original. But that's such a small list of issues, its completely worth getting lost in Cyrodiil again.

I appreciate the clear personal touch this game has - this was definitely a game about one dev's life and all the personal meaning that has for him. The gameplay and world was very simple, but I appreciated it as a meditative and emotional experience.

this game had a ton of heart, I loved that it was not just about dating dads but also being a dad, and exploring that storyline and bonding with your kid was incredibly heartwarming. Also, it had some great minigames.

I love the uniqueness that comes in from indie devs that you'd seemingly never see in other games: The Mesoamerican fantasy setting, the blend of turn based and real time combat, the shocking amount of story in what seems like such a small package. I do think that the combat is doing something really interesting and different, though I admit it does make it more stressful to play than a typical turn based game. It still is a very impressive RPG in many areas.

What a cool combination of the survival craft genre, the supernatural Pacific Northwest, "extraction" type games, and driving/car repair mechanics. This is really a game that is totally unique - if you like this game and want more like it, I truly have no idea what to recommend to you. You can really see the care and attention to detail put into everything, especially the car's quirks, the visual effects, the satisfying thunk of your car door closing, the animations and sounds always felt great, and there was always a great sense of mystery around you. I admit I didn't get very far in this one, but the setting and vibes and uniqueness of it made it really memorable, and I'd especially recommend it to survival craft fans.

Man, where to start? From the jump, the atmosphere is incredible, you can see the starts of the IMMERSION-centered ethos of Bethesda's games, even if the clunky UI and crunchy RPG systems kind of get in the way. I can see how the real old school RPG heads can get nostalgic for the numbers and the different weapon skills and the spellcrafting... but man, gameplay wise, it is pretty rough to get there. Though there's something to be said for a game that expects its players to be smart and patient enough to learn and reap the rewards of learning - not all of it is just friction for friction's sake - it does make your mastery feel earned. As an Elder Scrolls fan, the worldbuilding is great, it was an interesting experience to see what the people of Morrowind were like and let myself be absorbed into my character.
