this game makes my heart happy.

fantastic game, so far i have zero complaints or criticisms. it improves upon the first game in every way. as of writing this review the game is in EA but it is extremely polished and has tons of content already. highly recommended!

it's ok i guess.

you get to sail around, you get to explore lots, and find wreckages, there's ship battles, fishin', salvage, treasures, you can customize and upgrade your ship (as well as a FLEET if you want). all the characters are extremely cute and they talk extremely funny, and everything about this game just speaks to my heart, and while i was distracted by the speaking, the game stole my heart.

i'm still very early in the game and will change my review if appropriate once i've played much more of it, but right now i highly recommend this.

this honestly seems like it would be a really bad game. the graphics are nothing special and it looks rough around the edges, and there are a lot of similar looking 'niche simulator' games around that really suck (barely any content, janky and buggy, basically just a cash grab).

So if you saw DDS and thought it was just another barely functional simulator game, it is totally understandable. that's what I used to think. but this game is actually really, really fun. It has very tight and satisfying gameplay loops, the game mechanics are fun and satisfying, though sometimes lacking polish. and there is a surprisingly large amount of content to progress through, and you have alot of flexibility in when and how you progress. some of the things you can do:

- you can cut and mix drugs to boost their profitability, or to increase or decrease how addictive and/or dangerous they are.
- customers can actually OD and die, which affects your reputation. there is alot of thought put into the different drugs and how addictive / profitable / dangerous they are.
- different customers have different 'quality' expectations, customers can get addicted which adds some interesting changes
- you can work with gangs, moving big quantities of product, same gameplay loop as regular selling but done in a different way.
- money is implemented in a fairly sophisticated and interesting way: you can only use cash for certain things, for many important things you need to use your bank account but depositing too much money is risky, so there's a whole money laundering system.
- you can rent properties all over the map, which provide bonuses and act as safe houses, and buy and place furniture and equipment in them.
- you can grow weed lol

there is a ton of great content in this game, it's completely worth the price, i'm still getting tons of fun out of it.
