Don't listen the voices saying this is a failed WoW-killer: this is a completely different experience and most of the time that's for the better!

Story: Final Fantasy XIV has the best story that I've ever seen on a MMORPG by far but that's only if you give it a chance. It starts a bit dull and slow compared to a regular, offline Final Fantasy. So keep that on mind.

Gameplay: feels old but in the good way, it's kinda like playing a classic MMORPG with updated graphics. This certainly won't be of the liking of some players.

Graphics: technically correct for a game released on 2014, it aged well. Aesthetically impressive with themes that are a direct throwback to the first entries of the series. First armor sets are a bit awkward though.

Sound: superb, above the level expected for the single-player entries of the series.

Verdict: if you used to play MMORPGs and miss those days but didn't get hooked to anything lately, give it a try even if you haven't played any other game of the series. If you are a Final Fantasy fan you will enjoy all the tributes and references to the older and newer games but you have to love this very genre to appreciate the game - this is not a regular Final Fantasy. Otherwise you better pass it and look for a more modern concept.

*UPDATED: Endwalker pre-patch*

Well, ironically, it seems most people is finally arguing that it is, in fact, a WoW killer. I dissagree: they offer completely different experiences and acchieved excelence on it own points. But this is the one that I keep playing, mind that.

An easy to learn (but truly hardcore when you get hooked) strategy game!
(I played this game mostly when I was offline so don't trust the hour count)

*Edited after playing the free update*

The free update adds mainly more possible events, and in minor grade some customizable options. That's great because it keeps its original experience but it doesn't feel like an expansion at all because the procedurally-generated nature of the game. New music themes are as good as the original ones - they deserve to be listened even when you are not playing the game!
