Really enjoyed the charm of this game and exploring the backyard. Also, unless they fix it in the future, for the love of god DON'T UPGRADE YOUR ARMOR PAST LVL5!!! Had to store my ladybug armor until I was able to make the material needed to repair it.

Enjoyed it more than I did Dead Rising 3 but there are some things lacking. The maniacs suck, don't compare at all to the bosses of the previous game. I also wish there was a bit more revisiting the mall.

I guess it's "on brand" for Dead Rising games to have awful story and awful dialogue. Weapons and combat are better than DR2 but I feel like DR3 lacks a charm the former had. After beating it I can't really say I would ever revisit it.

This game is a mixed bag. The characters and the story are cheesy and cliche, but I enjoyed them both for the most part. Combat is also basic but it's fine. I like the stealth aspect. I also like these little details like how fast travel costs fuel so the amount of fuel (and the size of your tank) dictate how far you can go. The guitar player and the various songs he plays. My first encounter with a horde was the one in the train carts on the bridge, such a good experience. Encounters with the wildlife were also fun.

The biggest problem with this game is the crustiness, the lack of polish. Every now and then you'll reach a milestone in the story and then you'll have radio calls from 3-4 back to back, sometimes the same person over and over. The crossbow is awful. Several times you're forced to slow walk for the story (if not in a settlement use boot knife slashes to lunge forward). Climbing ladders is dreadful because it usually means a slow climb down with no option to slide. Also the protagonist gets weird whenever there's nests around, like why did they go with that kind of read. Same with the Copeland radio segments, I get that he's riding down the road but why is he shouting. Then there's the latter part of the game that seems unfinished. I uninstalled after I did the last mission (where you collect an item and then do nothing with it) so I don't know if reloading would have fixed the last settlement but mine just removed most of the buildings but left the NPCs doing things in mid air. That reminds me of a bug that broke my game but thankfully it's such a prominent bug that there's videos of solutions online.

I don't think I'd recommend it... but I wouldn't not recommend it either. It scratched an itch I had for more State Of Decay, but Days Gone left me wanting a better ending and a better game.

addicted to this game, wish there was more content, can't wait for SoD3

01-05-2024: Still thinking about this game, wish there were custom maps or mods that add more content or something.

This game has character. You can see the inspiration it takes from games like Half Life and Metro 2033 throughout the game, not just the easter eggs. A handful of sections/chapters with a variety of gameplay and locations.

The game does have a fair amount of crust. First of all it's slow, and I mean S L O W, especially in the beginning. You can go off and explore the area while waiting for your companion to saunter to the progression marker but you might miss out on dialogue if that's important to you. Graphical bugs here and there. Also movement feels so bad when colliding with things.

There's also a few mechanics in the game that are barely used. Two safes that are related to achievements, being able to push a barricade which is also achievement-related, a UV light, and a lockpicking minigame (that's still better than most lockpicking minigames). Maybe this isn't criticism, but it's weird, though that can be said about the whole game. Nothing's really fleshed out but there's a good deal of variety in a short game.

Every now and then I come back to the store page to see if anything's happening with the game. I know it's over but I wish I could see more. Really interesting atmosphere and story, wouldn't mind seeing the devs try and make another game in the same universe.

What I really like about Raft is how the game mainly consists of building and maintaining said raft. A survival game more like Minecraft's Skyblock or Sink Into Madness modpacks where there's little exploration and more about gathering resources at your base.

As of this review, there isn't a whole lot of content, but I imagine that can only get better as the devs are still active and updating the game.

There's something for fans of the series and for those who just want a survival horror game. The 'big bad' AI is nothing like other games and really feels like it's alive.

Apartment 666 has the "looping environment" that many people attribute to PT. There isn't much of gameplay, merely finding what you need to press "E" on in order to progress through the loop-door. After a few jump scares, some newspaper clippings, some more jump scares, you'll find yourself at the end of the game, wondering what you just did for the last 15 minutes.
