Devil May Cry has returned to its roots and I couldn't be more happy!
I'll talk about the positives first.
- If you're versed with the hack and slash of old DMC, you'll be right at home here. Combos to learn, master, meld together, change up to keep up that triple S rank, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to skills.
- It looks gorgeous, the detail in both the real world and the demon world. Mix in some eyegasmic weapon visuals (especially Neros devil brakers).
- The music is utterly catchy, from all 3 characters. When playing as Nero you're subjected to heavy and fast paced dance music. With Dante it's more metal and heavier, just like the previous titles. As for V you're ears are treated to heavy bass and eerie vocals, its all round head banging and makes you feel pumped for the action.
- You'll be jumping from Nero to V to Dante all the time and each one of them has a different and varied skill set and way of playing (Give V some time, his style is VERY different but you'll soon learn to hold back and let your demon pets do the work)
(Wrapping up the positives in a quick fire way)
-Dante is back to making quips, jokes and all round making lite of everything
-DMC 5 is approachable for everyone, from new to old
-Story wise, it's well paced, understandable, not too complex for it's own good and doesn't slap you in the face for not knowing someone or something.
Now I only have 2 problems with the game:
1. During cut-scenes, the dialogue is not in sync with the characters mouths, a tad jarring.
2. The way you pull off some combos requires you to point the analogue stick (I played with a controller) in a certain direction, but it's based off which way the character is facing. For example, the camera will pan away from behind you showing you and the enemy side on, so now if you pull back on the left stick, the character will move left, requiring you to adjust to the camera position as well.

All in all, I highly recommend picking this game up, I still have to play through it on Son of Sparda difficulty.

Having now gone through the game on most difficulties, beaten the Bloody Palace will Nero, V and Dante, all the content DMC5 offers is still amazing.
BUT
A shame that Capcom reverted to their ways of being money hungry and not releasing the latest content drop, some at all, for PC (Vergil only). I'd still recommend picking it up.
