An absolute blast from start to finish, The Ascent presents some of the most beautiful cyberpunk world design I've seen in a while. Every aspect of this game bleeds the verticality that its setting promises, from sprawling cityscapes to dingy, grimy sewer systems, the world comes out fully realised. The NPCs all ooze character, too, with Poone, nogHead and Kira being particular standouts.

Now, if you're here for deep RPG elements, branching paths, and the world to alter on your choices... That's not really what The Ascent is all about. There's a heavy focus on the "action" part, here. Mostly, you talk to dudes, get quests, and go murder people. And good L O R D is the murdering part good. There's an astounding amount of weapon variety from what I played with, from five-barrelled shotguns and rockets to a richocheting sawblade launcher (a little gift from a side mission), and tons of abilities to play with. There's a lot of variety here, but not so much build variety as the stuff you wanna work with.

Audio design is excellent, with a meaty crunch to most weapons. This is a game where you can turn people to chunks of red mist, and you really feel it when you do. The music, too, is pretty solid, though some of the combat audio tracks can loop a whole bunch if you're chilling in one area for a while. Particular shoutouts to the track hat plays when you have to defend an area for three minutes, that really gets the blood pounding.

Overall, and as a total package, this comes highly recommended from me. Every time the camera panned out to show more of the world it was flooring, and once the co-op gets a little more polished, I'd love to go through this again with my homies.

P.S: co-op is currently busted as hell. give it a few patches if you're planning on seeing it with your pals first, and wait for that to get cleared. this is a review as a single-player game.

Amazing weapon and an awesome pre-order incentive. Most people are saying the weapon is quite weak, but you're just using it like a normal shotgun; as the description implies, this is a mechanical SHREDDER capable of taking out the first few mech bosses in a few shots (this would take quite a while otherwise).

A great tool for the right job.

this game blew my nuts off and potemkin bustered my crops
10/10 recommendation from me for gameplay alone, but the art and music is utterly top-notch.
this gets my recommendation for the best fighter on the market right now, especially with the phenomenal netcode in-match.

yeah, the lobbies suck ass. its a small price to play for how hype this ♥♥♥♥ is, but its still lame.
go play it! you wont be disappointed

The original Dead Space already holds up excellently as one of the best action-horror experiences you can have, and Dead Space 2 improves on almost every aspect of that. The game is chock-full of memorable areas, action set pieces, and some of the best weapons I've ever used in a game.

The new setting, The Sprawl, is a much more high-tech facility than the dreary corridors of the U.S.G Ishimura, and what it lacks in oppressive, dreary industry it more than makes up for in spectacle and variance. Every area of the game is markedly different, with the Church of Unitology in particular being a standout of INCREDIBLE level design and art direction combining to make what's for my money one of the best areas in gaming. I'd pick DS2 up for that alone, even if the rest of the game wasn't so good on top.

The visuals look incredible, even now, and between that and the wonderful sound design / feedback of the weapons, its easy to get immersed in its messed-up sci-fi nightmare world.

It's the best, and I'd gladly recommend it to anybody with an interest in either the spooky, the action, or both!
ps: use the ripper and upgrade the hell out of it, its the best weapon in the universe. on god.

My game of the year, every year.
The soundtrack SLAPS and the game is so frantic and fast it gets me SO HYPE every time.
I played this offline for the better part of 20-30 hours while I didn't have internet for about two weeks and its one of the best experiences I've ever had in a video game.

The aesthetic is gorgeous and the soundtrack. good lord.

good game 10/10

Best fightter on the market right now, this game ♥♥♥♥♥ and should absolutely be played by anybody into fighters. It's absurdly fun both as a casual thing to mess around with friends and as a hyper-competitive, high level fighter with a ton of depth.

also gigas is tight
