Having people offer scientific opinions…The ‘science’ here is no longer simply an academic subject but a form of paganism. It is exceedingly unfortunate—when a person is told something is scientifically correct, they tend to believe in everything unconditionally. No matter how absurd it may be, and without even seeing it with their own eyes.”

She was right. Sometimes people used the word "science" the wrong way like that. Just because they said something was scientifically correct, could they state with absolute certainty why it was scientifically correct? People should use the word "science" only after thinking it all the way through.

Common scientific knowledge—such a term changed on a daily basis with advancements in the field. Nobody had discovered Pluto until 1930. There was a time everybody had said blue light–emitting diodes couldn’t be made, too.

And even if something was scientifically correct, it could still mean that the paradigm of science itself was imperfect. If you couldn’t distinguish that, then saying something was scientifically correct was about as valuable as saying something had to be true because your teacher said it.
