Ever since I got into Civilization in 2018, I was instantly lured by its fun and strategy. Although Civ VII faced a lot of backlash at its launch, what games haven’t? and it wasn’t even as glitchy as Cyberpunk was in the beginning. The AI at first did seem to be very briefly touched on and was buggy and also was unclear on certain things. For example, I remember people were a bit confused if the capital gains the production and food if you set a town focus, or not.

The leaders were pretty great and I do like the combination of different civilizations, however, it would be nice to also have a mode to ensure each leader leads their own respective civilization, that would be a nice touch. The independents were vastly improved for the better as they feel more like actual entities now, instead of them barely doing anything except expanding in VI. I like how you can provide influence and have a bit more options. I especially like that with enough diplomacy points, you can allow them to join your civilization.

Overall, I thought civilization VII was fun and it feels some of the new mechanics make the game feel more enjoyable and not too much micromanaging like in Civ VI. it’s especially great you can fix districts or worked tiles by using gold rather than waiting on the production like in VI.
