Wow, this game has a huge amount of different mission objectives. Basically every level has a different objective and it keeps the gameplay fresh. It is pretty satisfying to trigger a chain reaction of destruction and just watch the chaos.

I haven't seen a grand strategy game with this tight of story integration before and that is pretty cool. The story is an interesting backs-against-the-wall sci-fi mortality tale that keeps coming every couple of game turns.

Normal difficulty is pretty tough. Every battle inflicts a lot of damage on your fleets. You end up spending a lot of time and resources patching up your fleets between battles. This is probably more realistic but I can see how this could be a turn off for players used to constant tactical snowballing.

I hope it has Steam Cloud saves support in the future. I want to transfer my saves automagically between my laptop and desktop. :)

My family loves single screen couch coop games and this is another great example. I wanted to get my positive review in quickly as we have spent a decent amount of time with one of the Next Fest demo versions.

Pros:
- The core cooperative gameplay loop is solid and you can get into a rhythm like all the great coop games..
- The soundtrack is great. The level 1-1 music is an ear worm and slaps! I still had it in my head from the demo.
- The art style is cute and friendly. Perfect for this kind of couch coop game.
- The game is funny. I had a good laugh at how the tutorial ends.

Cons:
- It can be hard to understand what is happening. The visual accessibility options have noticeably improved since the Next Fest demo we played but we still sometimes get confused. For example, I wish the airlock power sound/light would flash progressively faster as it runs out.
- I wish there was an option to make the hints button a toggle. I would prefer the hints overlay to be on almost all the time without holding the button.

This is a really good metroidvania. I appreciate that the boss fights are not dark soul nightmare battles and FAIR. Platforming wise this is less difficult than shovel knight but still requires skill.

Player movement is great. The only minor movement complaint is that you can't move while attacking or casting a spell, which is old school but feels alright once you get used to it.

The best Leisure Suit Larry game I have played. It doesn't have the dead ends or random elements of previous iterations. The puzzle clues were always on point. Overall a pretty great point-and-click adventure game.

Highly recommended for space captains who want to explore and not get bogged down in a procedural space grind. This is a true non-procedural space exploration game. It plays more like Star Flight (from what I can remember) than Star Control. The exploration is self directed but the narrative keeps me wanting to play.

The writing is great. I laughed at a universal translator misunderstanding during the very first alien encounter. Almost every planetary survey mission is unique. They also frequently narratively build on each other as you progress.

Combat is twin stick shooter and very appropriate for the exploration vibe. The ship damage, explosions, and other effects make it fun even thought there isn't a lot of depth there.

There are some controller hick-ups. Navigating the starbase UI with a controller is glitchy. I sometimes couldn't fire missiles with my controller.

Overall, great game.

Ignore the haters, this is the next couch co-op experience you have been waiting for! This is a great game for people who love the Overcooked series. This game is not as physics crazy as implied in the videos.

Every level is a remodel job that you have to complete within the time limit. Structurally this feels more like a puzzle than Overcooked (which is about delivering as many meals as possible in the time limit). I really like the change of pace and feel this game is more relaxing/easier than Overcooked.

I want more!

This is the Star Control 2 followup we've been waiting for. I am about 20 hours in and loving it.

Pros (these definitely outweigh the cons!):
- The story, humor, music, graphics feel like a modern version of Star Control 2.
- Story is great (so far).
- Side missions and things to see have been sprinkled thru out the galaxy.

Cons (provided with love as feedback to devs):
- It is easy to unintentionally waste time grinding resources or exploring unimportant systems. Don't bother mining low value resources (the their value when selling them for the first time). It is better to head straight for mission objectives and mine only valuable planets in the area. A patch is supposed to add a warning but I wished the starbase commander talked about this like in Star Control 2.
- Side missions lack production value of main/secondary missions. They frequently lack voice overs and UI is rougher for that content.
- The fuel range upgrade path is frustrating. I was expecting the small fuel tank purchasing from Star Control 2 but this game uses a starbase fast travel system instead. Just head towards mission objectives and keep an eye out for new starbases to unlock.
- Upgrade path is rough. Most upgrades are unlocked by starbase and merchant discovery. It feels uneven and some of the better upgrades are too expensive.
- Fleet management is tricky. Alien ships require alien crew which are only refilled by talking to those aliens (when allied). Allies provide free ships on occasion but it requires manually visiting them and asking. Protip: Every allied race patrols the Sol system so they are easy to find there.
- Hyperspace travel UX needs some love. Autopilot kicks out if you press esc to save the game. There is no way to plot a manual course. There is no virtual keyboard so I can't search or label markers with a controller.
- Lander is made of paper. You either need full immunity for the planet's conditions or landing is a waste of a lander. Partial immunity should allow for quick trips.

This is a best tactical game I have played in VR. The gameplay mechanics and controls make perfect sense in VR and make this game superior to Flotilla 1.

Ship rotation and positioning truely matter and motion controls make it a snap. Well designed ship models clearly show their weakpoints based on coloring. Straightforward gameplay translates to awesome tactical play!

The only downside is that is no overarching story or campaign. The game consists of 100 scripted missions and a custom mission editor.

NOTE: The initial release had some issues with controlling ship special abilities while playing with the Oculus Rift. This was quickly patched and is no longer a problem. Quick response from the dev!

This is the best Hitman yet! Better than Blood Money.
