I'm writing this review only minutes after finally completing the game and on the whole it's a thumbs up from me. It's normal to look back and remember the game fondly but I'm not going to pretend that Halfway doesn't have it's share of frustrating problems. Your enjoyment of the game is going to depend on how well you manage said frustration.

First make sure you turn off the dialog sound as it becomes grating very quickly, follow that up by turning the footsteps volume down and make sure you are changing between your characters with your keyboard numbers. Next be prepared to accept that your going to miss a lot of shots on your enemies in the game due to the wonky percentage numbers.

Now on to what you can enjoy! The game really picks up as soon as your start filling your squad out and each encounter against the enemy can be quite the tactical tug of war. If you enjoy turn based battles where you are going to have to think about the potential consequence of the moves you make then Halway is certainly for you. Said encounters can be quite slow paced at times but then that's all going to depend on your style of play and what squad members you bring on missions.

Side missions will pop up from time to time as you make your way through the main quest and these will normally lead to new squad members, items such and medikits or weapons and armour. They are a decent dsitraction and it's not possible to miss them (they show up in bright yellow) should you be a completionsit like myself :)

As for the story? It's a decent enough story that deserves seeing through until the end with a bit of mystey thrown in alongside your usual space fare. The music as you can tell by the trailer is great and really captures the struggle you face against an enemy that often outnumbers you.

Finally - remember to take all of your squad members in to the final mission! Makes it a lot more managable.
