A charming, riveting little game with great characters, wonderful writing, awesome music. The medieval dialog is very well done and a treat to read. Highly recommended. It will take about four hours to beat, but is well worth the asking price.
The type of game that makes you want to say 'they don't make them like this anymore' but they do, in fact, make them like this, anymore.

Light mechs bad, big mechs good.
Get big mechs
Kill bigger mechs
Salvage bigger mechs
Kill God, he is a crab
Refit God's corpse with a terrifying array of weapons, deploy Him against Capellans
Realize that God’s bloodied carapace is really not all that great. You should probably stick with the Atlas

Good game if you like Battletech or ever played the Mechcommander games, or just enjoy turned based games in general. Lots of roughness around the edges which is typical for Harebrained Schemes, but just like their Shadowrun offerings you get a feel for the world and the combat is pretty good as well.

Story is okay, servicable. Keep in mind most of the game consist of short mercenary missions and you will never command more than four mechs at a time with limited mission scope. Customization, while maybe shallower than it could've been, is actually pretty satisfying. You can beat the game with normal mechs, but spending some time in the mechlab will result in some very rewarding and powerful configurations. Replay value is fairly high, the campaign plus the flashpoints gives many hours on each playthrough. That being said, don't expect a campaign with a lot of scripted setpieces or else. Most of the story is dialogue trees and static cutscenes, although they are fairly well done.
Gameplay rules and systems are actually pretty simple, but the tutorial is not great. I would suggest looking up a video or two. Initiative is king and waiting is actually very important. Much of the difficulty in the early game revolves around building up a stable of well-trained pilots and getting larger mechs. Fans of the Battletech universe might be upset that the endgame revolves around lances comprising exclusively of Assault Mechs duking it out.
Music is awesome, sound is very good, art design is great. Gameplay visuals are meh, but the mechs look good.

The game has enough depth in its stock configuration, but mods help a lot. I would caution against installing Roguetech or BTA3062 right away as they are best played after having a good grasp on normal game mechanics, have considerably higher difficulty, and should likely be played alongside their wikis and manuals.
Mods I think would be good for a first playthrough are:
PanicSystem - Makes pilot AI more real, enemies will eject instead of fighting hopeless battles
FasterTurn - speeds up turn phases
Arano Flashpoint and Travel Unlock - gives you more access to worlds during campaign
Flashpoints worthwhile rewards - when paired with the previous mod, will incentivize flashpoints (only useful if you have DLC)

I would also highly suggest that you use the menu options to speed up combat and play the game more as a top-down RTS. After a while the pauses in gameplay for camera changes really start to add up.

The DLC is good, but way too expensive and should really be part of the basegame. Get it on sale or if you really like the game.

EDIT: Finished the game. Short but sweet. The quality continued at the same level and one of the songs has been stuck in my head for a few days now. I really want this developer to make a larger game with more content in this same style or universe. My main complaint is I wish there was more of it.

I have limited time with the game currently but I am very much enjoying it and would highly recommend to fans of science fiction and cyberpunk. Worth the asking price and then some. I might come back and update when I get further along.

+++Amazing characters and writing
+++Great story and setting
++Good simple gameplay loop
+Visuals, art, UI, sound design, and music are all excellent

-Gameplay elements/RPG mechanics are on the lighter side
-Text heavy
-Visuals are mostly static and character portraits, much is left to the imagination
-For a cyberpunk game its lighter on the action side of things
-Might be too easy for some, the survival mechanics are fairly basic and mostly there to show passage of time

I bought this game on a whim and could not put it down the first time I played it.
I grew up on cyberpunk novels and games and Citizen Sleeper reminds me of the best parts of William Gibson short stories, playing tabletop Shadowrun, and countless others. If you're a cyberpunk or sci-fi fan I would highly recommend this for the story alone.
I was pleasantly surprised at the connections in the writing, meaning that there aren't any ridiculous point-and-click-logic puzzles (this isn't Mystery of the Druids!). The narrative seems to progress naturally and you feel like the station/setting is alive enough that you feel confident to figure out plot elements on your own. There is also a good degree of choice, partly through dialog but mostly through the actions you choose to take.
The character writing is also excellent - I found myself so invested in them to the point where I was rushing to complete quests, hoping for a good outcome for them.

Keep in mind this game is very much based on text with minimal visuals. I normally don't like this in my games (I had a hard time playing Pillars of Eternity to give you an example) but the brevity and minimal nature of the descriptions really helps keep me interested.
The core gameplay loop is simple, easily explained and mostly a way to invest you in the story. That being said, this is definitely not a visual novel or walking simulator, there is more to do - think of it like a light RPG with no combat. I had some moments in the beginning where it genuinely felt like I had a lot at stake and was worried about every choice I made.
The skills progression is fairly light. Despite there being multiple classes with starting debuffs and bonuses, you can pursue every thread evenly.

Early Access Review
Honestly, playing this game takes me back to the days when I would load up Battlefield 1942 on my old family PC and play against bots for hours, flying planes above Midway and cheesing the AI with tanks.

It's a sandbox game that serves as a love letter to the large scale multiplayer FPS games of yore. It's made by one person (mostly), there's a huge amount of custom content, and the developer continues to work on the game and implement new features. Highly recommended to all FPS fans.

Excellent twin stick shooter roguelite.

Large parts of your environment are destructible, weapons and skills are satisfying.

Soundtrack hasn't gotten old yet, pretty catchy background fare.

There's a good amount of content and replayability. After beating the main story you can increase the difficulty modifier for a more aggressive experience. I'm on level 7 right now and it's tough.

Neon Chrome is a great game to pick up every once in a while and play for a bit. Won't get old.
