If you're a fan of Made in Abyss, this game is a great way to immerse yourself in the lore and setting. It is presumably non-canon as there are direct contradictions even within the game itself (with basically two versions of the same side quest at one point). The graphics are spot-on for the art from the anime, and the world is just as terrifying and brutal as you'd expect. Load times are almost instant on my system. Suffer through the hello abyss mode (don't bother wasting time gathering or fighting anything that isn't required, just go to the next objective marker), which serves as one of the worst tutorials in gaming history and shouldn't take too long to complete, and play the real game.

The game feels like it was made to be a vita/switch/mobile game, PC port controls are not good at all (are we sure this is a UE4 game?). This is not a good starting point if you're not familiar with Made in Abyss. There are several glaring flaws in the gameplay and game design itself, mob AI is awful and has very limited aggro and leash ranges and predictable attack patterns, making some enemies that should be terrifying to even look at the wrong way seem like minor obstacles and annoyances that just try to get in your way. The storytelling is very brief and feels incomplete, leaving huge gaps that you're expected to fill in for yourself. There's a lot of wasted potential here, but ultimately it's an enjoyable experience excluding the cliffs, looking at you madokajacks. And who can forget everyone's favorite infinitely respawning 1HP mobs that will often phase into existence out of nowhere and that are there solely to prevent you from standing still? Or fishing. Which isn't absolutely required to progress or even upgrade gear as once you hit the fifth layer you can just gather scales from mobs and required combat sections are fairly limited throughout the game and can be done with gear you purchase from stores.

100% achievements, though nowhere near 100% on quests, items, mob/character gallery took me 33.1 hours. Someone going out of their way to complete more sidequests will easily take longer and a speedrun may very well be able to do it in under 10-15, though one of the achievements requires you to level to 51 which may require some extra grinding if you're rushing through the story.

Protip: Don't die. It's never pretty.

Actual spoilers(ish): All of the (non-canon) interaction with the main cast is fairly limited to a couple of side quests. Defeating Ozen is not required for 100% achievements. You also get to feed Nanachi hotpot so 10/10.
