This game is truly a wholesome unique experience. Everything is oozing with stylistic despair from the pixel art to the soundtrack. Not to mention the controls feel just right. This is a game that does not hold your hand with the story and expects you to piece together what is happening in the environment to create your own recollection of these events. I feel that this is pulled of exceptionally well in Hyper Light Drifter which isn't always the case in games. If I had to choose two words to describe the whole experience I would say "Atmospheric" and "Brooding" yet it somehow maintains a brutal elegance which is satisfying for many playthroughs. Fantastic game overall and I would say all of the big name reviews of it have completely missed the mark which is tragic.
