Great little 3D platformer, lots of neat ideas, good level design, and controls well. A couple of puzzles are definitely as obtuse as what you'd find in the 64 classics it takes its inspiration from, but not so much so to be a problem. The story/premise is straightforward and believable enough (you typically don't need much for a platformer after all) and the game encourages exploration, with general progression being quite flexible, and several easter eggs throughout all of the major areas, including in places that at face value seem totally out of bounds (but are indeed accessible in some way or another...). The game overall is on the shorter side, and does a good job of staying fresh throughout.

For achievement minded players, Cavern of Dreams only has 2, both of which being to find all of a specific macguffin. These are reasonable enough to attain throughout regular gameplay (as long as you explore a bit, and I mean, if you're not exploring, why are you playing a 3D platformer?) and none are missable. There was a bug on launch that made unlocking one or both seemingly impossible for some players (myself included), however as of editing this review (edit on Dec. 8, 2023) a new patch has dropped and achievements seem to unlock again, so make sure you play the latest version if that matters to ya!

I strongly suggest all who play to immediately disable the blur filter in the settings as, personally, it does not really add to the experience. But to each their own.

tldr, Fun game, great (and short) 3D platformer, plays well but check your settings anyway, buggy achievements so beware if you care.

cute game, only like a dollar, short but that's the point - nice way to spend a free afternoon or so.

Pumpkin Jack is a fun Halloween themed 3D platformer with good visuals, nice music, and witty writing and characters. Features a variety of unlockable weapons and an OK combat system, though facing mooks with said system is a tad repetitive after a while. On the other hand, the boss fights are unique and exciting, Many parts of any given level will present puzzle-like challenge to figure out how you are to get from A to B, and once you do figure it out, the movement feels clean.

For players that love exploring, the game has optional crow skulls and gramophones strewn across all levels that are hidden cleverly and promote thinking about the intention of the level design - always a good thing for 3D platformers to do. The skulls can be used to buy alternate skins for Jack, whereas the gramophones (one per level) are more collectible for collection's sake (although you DO get to watch Jack bust a move each time you find one, so they're worth).

Biggest flaw imo is that the game is very short, took me 6 hours for 100% achievement completion, maybe 4-5 to actually just play through the game blind. Short length isn't inherently bad - in general, it can allow for many games to feel fresh and exciting for their entire duration - but for Pumpkin Jack's asking price, I'd probably suggest waiting for a sale.

Pretty solid game, great with friends, singleplayer is a tad plain. Replayability is just OK: can get a little stale as there are only two campaigns that have static dungeon design and a 'survival' level which is fun but unforgiving. Game often suffers from a requirement to play "slow", ie, you have to wait for your MP to regen for several minutes at times if you want to advance in a dungeon as many of the game's classes - MP in general is restricted a little harshly for how much some classes rely on it. Still fun overall. Achievement-minded folks, prepare for some grinding as there are some... high requirements that you would never get in playing the game normally.

Life of a Wizard is pretty short, about 1-2 hours per playthrough, but the world and plotlines are interesting and the game has solid replay value. Gameplay consists of reading short passages about events and choosing how you act and react to them as the game unfolds, taking the form of an interactive choose-your-own-adventure story. You create your own wizard character and live out his or her life from childhood until retirement. Character progression is very D&D-esque and every individual choice, of which there are many, can significantly alter how the rest of your game plays out. It's a simple but creative concept and I think that this game does it well. If you have a few bucks in your Steam wallet and want a light but engaging fantasy rpg experience, consider trying out Life of a Wizard.

imagine a game with depth on par with Go Fish except designed to keep you hooked with fake af reward incentive (aw man in one turn I'm gonna smash this guy! Better keep playing ha ha), that's Civ V. AI is more braindead than the ancient leaders it plays as, there is exactly 1 (one) viable way to play (turtle -> science, either for that victory condition or to win all the others), you are penalized immensely for playing aggressive in a game where the whole premise is to dominate the world in some way, limited visuals and music get very stale very quick minus select few tracks and most leader themes, the list goes on. Civ V is a barebones addictive mobile app disguised as a some fraud benchmark "grand strategy 4X" game - it preys on boredom and generates apathy, it is an insult to the genre, and it spawns armies of gamer historians that think they're all history majors because they read an uncited blurb about Rome a fifth grader could have written. Get real! The worst part is, Civ V has everything it needs to be great, honestly a lot of solid ideas, but the execution from the core throughout is shallow and weak.

tldr game sux
