...And the next thing I knew was a light like stars, and a weight like nothingness as my mind was pulled somewhere distant.

Where am I? The Afterlife? No, I thought.
This is a place west of sunfall,
A swirling mass of stars and wind
Where gods find refuge.
Finding my footing in this timeless space,
I followed a path of moss and stone
Along a river as old as our sky.
Upon the paths’ end, I sat on the bank and waited for five eternities,
And waited just one more before I heard a noise behind me.
And lo, there He was, all merry and mirth,
With robes that smelled of cider and pine, and late summer nights.
Dyed in the tones of wine-purple and the bright hues of autumn.
From his head came elkish horns and green ivy, and from his hands came the harvest.
Giving a royalesque bow, he welcomed me to this place reserved for divinity.
He asked me to place a leaf on his head, to act as a crown
And he thought it beautiful to behold once it adorned him.
His tears of joy became mine
As I faced a mirror and saw his face in it.
I was the Prince of Autumn, the warm western wind,
Bane of Serpents, giver of fruits, He Who Lives In The Equinox,
The bearer of laughter, and Son of the Winter King.
My name was Jhurla.
He skipped away, happy all the while,
As he showed me the way to live;
To keep the fire of the past alive,
To light the way to our future.
To never let darkness take hold in the dead of winter.
