One of the most innovative games of the last couple of years, too bad it had terrible marketing, questionable balance and technical difficulties (if only they hadn't gone with a custom launcher) killed the playerbase. However, after Trion was sold, the writing was on the wall, and now the game is shutting down end of June.

That said, you should still at least give the game a try. Now that the devs have announced the cancellation, they have boosted the amount of stuff you earn from matches, allowing f2p players the ability to purchase everything very quickly. I used to hate the fact that f2p players have to play for weeks just to unlock anything, but since that point is now moot, you should go ahead and play it, even if just to see what it tried to do. Note: look up a few tutorials and play against bots first, since the in game tutorial sucks.
