This game is a fun and useful addition to a growing pool of inexpensive or free language learning software. While not a comprehensive course, Influent presents a truly impressive model for the gamification of acquiring basic vocabulary. Players find themselves navigating a 3D home with hundreds of objects to interact with. As you explore, vocab sheets are created which you can later test your knowledge of by associating objects with presented words (unfortunately the opposite has not be implemented). With over 400 nouns, adjectives, and verbs, players can use the game as a jumping off point for learning a new language. When you combine with something like Duolingo, it becomes apparent how wonderful the digital age is for language learners.
