Picked this up in the Devolver humble bundle. A really nice point and click that I played on a long train ride and found myself unable to turn away from after arriving at my destination. Pretty graphics and music that is sure to get stuck in your head. Walking around town as a scary clown giving out hugs and solving problems for people. Good time

Seems like a great concept but it's a pretty bland experience. There is no sense of urgency and it doesn't feel rewarding. I had to intentionally be very careless with my playing in order to get a game over.

Fun game. It has aged pretty well. Shooting feels good, slo-mo is a fun mechanic, and the AI of the enemies is great. The only con I have is that the levels are a bit repetitive, I'm about halfway through and it feels like I've only been in office buildings. Other than that, a solid game if you can grab it for cheap.

I used a 360 controller for years, then I moved onto a DS4 controller, then I bought a XB1 controller for couch co-op. The steam controller dominates all of those controllers.

My first impressions were very negative, I thought the grips could flair out a little more for added comfort and the shoulder buttons felt as though they jutted out too far. I would also find myself pressing the wrong face buttons frequently. I stubbornly stuck with it though, refusing to play with anything else until I got comfortable with it. I am now at the point where this is my preferred controller, for all genres.

Here are the games I played with it:
Painkiller: Black - An arcade shooter that helped me get used to using the right thumbpad in trackball mode. The right thumbpad is used to fling the camera in the direction of your enemy, when your cursor reaches the enemy you stop the camera and quickly use gyro aiming to fine tune.
Dragon Age: Origins - Before the steam controller, I was using a wireless keyboard to play this on my TV. Using the steam controller is both intuitive and much more comfortable than sitting with a keyboard on your lap.
Crysis - I prefer couch gaming to desktop gaming. This game has controller support but I hated the lack of controller customization. The steam controller resolves this issue by being totally customizable. I was able to play the game to completion.
STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl - This is the game I am currently playing. So far the experience has been fantastic. I have created a touchmenu for item select, this takes care of the controller's lack of hotkeys. The way it works: holding the right grip while touching the left thumbpad brings up a 3x4 grid that is used as a touch menu. Here, I can select weapons, health items, and tools. The only downside to this is it requires me to remove my thumb from the thumbstick to select a new weapon, however, I could just as easily set the touch menu to the right thumbpad and resolve this issue. It just hasn't been enough of a problem for me to make the change.

Overall: I highly recommend the steam controller. It takes a lot of getting used to but once things click for you then you won't want to use anything else.

Like a humorless Fallout mixed with Metro. Every enemy encounter is a life or death situation, making the combat feel a bit like a FPS Dark Souls.

You'll retreat from fights, you'll hide behind corners, you'll drag dead bodies behind cover so you can safely loot their pockets, you'll feel an incredible sense of relief when you encounter anyone that doesn't want to kill you, it's incredibly engaging. If you want a game you can really lose yourself in, PLAY THIS GAME.

This game rules! It's beautiful to look at, has an wonderful score, and is just plain fun to play. The platforming and level design feel really tight. The difficulty curve feels very natural. Definitely worth the cost of admission,

A lovely game, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it. I was just too worried I'd lose my pups and couldn't bare the loss.

This is the closest I've found to a singleplayer Journey

This game is bad, really really bad. Bad to the point where I'm having difficulty understanding the praise it received. Were these reviewers paid off? I don't know.

I've played the first two games and I understand that a bad poetry narration is part of the package, but those games were meant to be sort of noir comic books. This game on the other hand, I don't really know what it is going for aesthetically.

There is weird blurring vision and weird colorful effects that fade in and out of scenes. Occasionally, lines of dialogue will have selected words appear as text on the screen to provide emphasis. Why these words? I don't know, it almost feels like the words were selected at random because the emphasis adds nothing to the scene. I assume the blurry/colorful effects have to do with our protagonist being a drunk that abuses pain killers but it isn't aesthetically challenging in a way that is fun or interesting, just nauseating, which may be contextually appropriate but doesn't provide an experience I see much of a point of putting myself through.

The rhythm of the game this
1. cutscene with blurry/colorful effects and bad narration.
2. shooting gallery style gameplay.
3. repeat

The shooting isn't particularly fun and it is so often broken up by long cinematic sequences that I never found myself getting invested in the experience I was having. It's like reading a bad book and having to turn the pages very slowly, but I'm not sure which part is the reading and which part is the turning. I guess it doesn't matter since neither experience is really worthwhile.
