Review Showcase
I don't write many reviews, but seeing as this game grabbed me and wouldn't let me go until I read every bit of text it had to offer, I might as well. This is a great drama, set in a cyberpunk world. Sure there is some sub plots of corruptions, action, and violence, but the main draw of the story is the personal drama of the main character Jill. Meanwhile secondary story lines pop up between other characters that you serve at the bar (its a bartending game, there's a bar, not a spoiler) The characters are varied and spread out enough to keep any one story line from growing stale, while still being on your mind enough to not fade into the darkness. Meanwhile 'news' articles and blogs and a not-4chan on the intermissions between days build up a more fleshed out setting for the world.

The characters... They are great, they are pretty bombastic and colorful, but have subtlies that really help keep them from feeling like exagerated 2D cut outs or blatant waifu material.

My only complaint is I wish they did more with the drink system, especially concerning the alcohol content. Elaborating: a good number of drinks you can make for your clients that have optional alcohol content. In a few instances, using more/less alcohol will change the dialouge (mostly with one character who at one point asks to get smashed). Generally though, it doesn't.

Second is the focus mechanic. Essentially between days, you have a chance to go to the store and spend money you earn on useless trinkets. If you buy stuff Jill wants that night, she goes to work 'focused' and will remember what patrons want (you can't go back into the speech log while in the drink menu), and will comment about what the customer wants/likes and otherwise make it super easy to give what the customers want. If she isn't focused at work though, the dialouge is just random snippets that have nothing to do with anything. I wish they would have made the snippets scripted to the situations, or give more insight into how Jill thinks or feels about the events going on or the characters she's interacting with. A real missed opportunity.

Also, even though it talks about there being different endings, that's not EXACTLY true. Rather, depending on how well you serve the various patrons and how well you pay bills, you get extra 'shorts' after the end of the game, relating to the other characters. You can even get more than one in the same play through.

Speaking about play throughs, holding down CTRL will speed through the dialouge at rapid speed. I have two problems with how it was implemented. First is that the skip isn't contextual; it doesn't stop when you go through text you haven't seen before (incase you wanted to play through the game again and mess up drinks or turn up/down the alcohol content for the few times it changes stuff). This makes it a pain to catch dialouge differences between playthroughs. Second, despite being a fast foward function, due to the sheeer amount of text in this game (seriously there is a lot of text for each day) it still takes a bit of time to speed through the game to pick up scenes you missed the first time through. It'd be nice if they had a 'skip to next drink prep' function.

Ultimately though, despite its low replayability, this games is an engrossing VN with stories and characters solid enough to stand without a handful of different ending scenarios. Even if you dislike VNs (Which is understandable seeing as most of them are just poorly written wrappings around smut), you really should give this a read. It is an incredibly well written, tasteful, funny, and touching story that deserves a honest read.

I haven’t gotten the slightest clue either why your name seems so familiar, maybe it’s cause I’ve seen you in a stream or we met in TF2?... but your name just really does seem familiar if we have crossed paths before in meeting each over maybe we can talk.
