Hello?

While you're waiting for a match, which is all you will get to do, you can get a feel for the game.
Feels clunky as hell, like the original Duke Nukem on a slow computer.

Fun game, when can I play? Never.

This place is a freaking ghost town.

Waste of time.

I played when it was released. The game itself isn't bad, but there weren't enough people around and almost everything is underdeveloped.

Now it's just a cash grab. Seems like none of the underdevelopment has been fixed, but more stuff added on top.

It hasn't really gone anywhere in 3 years.

Remind me to never again early access. The majority of paid early access games are garbage go-nowheres that spoil the early access idea for the potentially good ones.

I liked some of what it had to offer, but the cash-grab messed up an otherwise fine game. Why not just be honest with everyone and start charging for the game? Give people who are currently playing like 6 months before they have to buy it.

I moved over to Dirty Bomb.

In short, not yet, maybe never.

It's still early access, but after playing about 35 hours, I'm probably not coming back. They tried to stagger your abilities, you get something new practically every round, but it's still about playing the same maps over and over. I was level 30+, but I couldn't even play the events. Pretty lame.

I don't even know why they have the tavern. It's just a glorified menu. There's no interaction with anyone in there, and when you're in a shared tavern you are likely to get sucked into a game on accident. That will drop you out of whatever thing you were doing.

Balance is a big issue. Having a ranged weapon that fires two projectiles is dumb, because neither of them go straight. They also do 1/2 damage each, so you might as well just get a 1 projectile weapon and hit things. Attack speed is the same, you do the same DPS whether you're firing 1 or 4 projectiles per second. There are a few interesting weapons, but they become obsolete very quickly. Higher tier items have a formula. You get more effects, but the stats are the same. The effects are totally unbalanced. Some of them are super powerful while others don't even make sense. Eventually I just sold all weapons if they didn't drain HP or if they fired multiple projectiles.

For a game that is all about items, item management is stupid. You can get hundreds of drops per round, but there's no way to just sell all the low quality ones or anything. No favorites. No filtering. Just a pain. I was spending more time selling items than I was playing the game, what with all the waiting for rounds to start and an item overflow that times out too quickly.

It's really fun. More deep than I would have thought, but I imagine it will get a little monotonous.

The mutations add a lot to the game. The weapons are super unbalanced. Some of them hurt you, and often they hurt you more than any enemy would while doing a normal amount of damage to them. There are some secrets.

I'm excited to see where this game goes.

Tripwire, what did you do to this game? It feels like Duke Nukem. I played in October '15 and it felt good, but now in December it feels really bad. Like really really bad.

They go on and on in the trailer about how they got experts in to help with the guns and physical actors to model out the zeds. It didn't pay off. The actions just don't look good. When you are running it looks like a full sprint, but you only go slightly faster. It makes it feel really dumb. People sprint 2-3 times as fast as they walk. When you're holding revolvers and sprint slightly faster than you walk it just looks comical. Comical is not something you want in a dark thriller game.

The guns are totally unbalanced and you get no feel for the strength of them. This understated pistol might do more damage than a shotgun. A shotgun penetrates more than a rifle. What the hell?

Clearly the more expensive weapons are meant to do more damage, but there's no indication of that after you've purchased it. It's easy to have a grenade launcher pistol, a medic pistol, and a powerful pistol all at once, but they all kind of look the same.

You get a single pistol and it's natural to aim, but then you dual and for some reason you hold them so wide that you can't use the sights anymore. I prefer having one pistol, but you can hold more ammo when you dual. Argh! You might be better off just spraying them with bullets anyway, there's about zero feedback as to whether or not you hit anything. See that dark zombie over there that didn't react when you fired at it? Did you hit it? Who knows. Oh, it died, I must have hit it.

Killing Floor one it was really satisfying blowing heads off. I get none of that magic here.

This is as sad to me as when they cancelled Pushing Daisies.

Dirty Bomb was the natural progression of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, and it was really good. Development has stopped. Servers will be up as long as people use them, so maybe into 2019.
