tldr; Content is in the form of skins and giving EA money, it used to be different type of shooter with a longer TTK until they had to make it like COD, Footsteps still cannot be heard 6 years after release, still an insane amount of hackers of every degree, controllers are still dominant form of input due to absurd levels of aim assist (and no opt out of playing with them feature) the characters/legends in this game have been powercrept to ♥♥♥♥ and too easy to execute, there are no community servers and you will be banned for playing on a modified version like R5Reloaded that has them if they find out :^]

Apex I wish you were better.

This game was originally founded by devs who cared and tried to make good games (Titan Fall 2), who then left soon before/after release and it is property of EA.

The game was great, a bit rough at first and its a battle royal, but it was different. It used to be that no longer would you instantly die to some guy lying in wait with a sniper or shotgun, fights took time and due to that fact it always left you with a slither of a chance to win a fight, regardless of if they got the jump on you or not due to a longer time to kill. This gave the grounds that the better player usually won, and I prefer that kind of gameplay compared to CoD.

Unfortunately, it is owned by EA and the developers of Respawn are barely a shell of what they once were. Despite being released with little to no advertising the game evidently became a huge success. From this EA saw dollar signs and began to become greedier and greedier with their monetary practices that they introduced into Apex Legends. "Ultra rare" skins that are basically unobtainable through normal means, but luckily they would have limited time events, where you could buy these skins for the cheap cheap cost of around $200 USD, don't miss out!
Skins unfortunately became the majority of "content" for the game, with balance patches and new legends/weapons being dribbled out like an old man trying to pee.

There have been many issues with this game since launch 6 years ago in 2019, the two major ones being hacking and audio. Very briefly on audio, when it comes to footsteps in this game it is atrocious, if you're deaf it's not a disadvantage in this game, as you wont hear a team right running right behind you anyways, apparently this is due to something in the engine, but as I stated before. Respawn is a shell of it's former self and no longer has the talent it once had, and so it has been ignored since with occasional "we're working on it" when community outcries were at all time highs. Now for hacking.
This game is infested with every hack you could think of, from aimbots to spoofing to hackers straight up banning or kicking other players in the same match as them. It can be argued that this is because it is a F2P game and it is easy to create another account which is true to a degree, but it's more so they just don't care and it doesn't make money. Professional players games were compromised in a PRO MATCH FORCING THEM TO AIMBOT MIDMATCH, their solution to this was to ban the OS linux users... that definitely fixed the problem.

The push for controllers. Like all games that include crossplay, in any fps, overall a controller will always be an inferior form of input when it comes to FPS's, however this meant that the game was less accessable in EA's eyes and therefore less customers. So they juiced up aim assist. For reference, a value of 1 perfectly tracks a target with zero delay, the value controller players on PC get a value of .4 if they are on console they have a value of .6. Soon people realised the absurdity of how strong and easy controllers were to use, and became predominantly used by most of the player base despite the clunkiness controllers have. It became normal to be instantly killed in close quarters, or being "one clipped" simply due to how strong aim assist is. To make matters worse, there is no option to separate the types of input in competitive play, and in pro play it was normalised, meta even for teams to have at least one controller player. In my opinion, this completely destroys the competitive aspect to Apex Legends. Not only was there no option to opt out, but giving controllers such insane aim assist is like giving a paraplegic a lamborghini in a running race. Yeah he might struggle to hit the pedals at first, but when he does he's winning.

Lastly Legends. Legends used to be a slight flavour to the gunplay, unfortunately with power creep new legends became more and more absurd and older legends being reworked with ridiculous passives and abilities that are braindead easy to execute, meanwhile skill expressive legends were repeatedly nerfed making the game more akin to something like Overwatch or Deadlock where the strongest characters have large advantages.

I wish you were better.
