2k, you owe me a controller

♥♥♥♥ this game. Seriously. Last year I posted a negative 3617 character review about 2k18. Most of this ♥♥♥♥ didn't get better or even got worse.

I'll start with some positive aspects of this year's NBA 2k:
1. you can now catch the ball (most of the times). This aspect REALLY improved.
2. intercepting passes WAS good at the beginning - I'll explain that later
3. the park events are cool and 2k really be dropping some nice locker codes (at least many of them)
that's it, I guess.

Let's talk about everything, that is ♥♥♥♥
1. this game basically doesn't have any physics. It's just some weird animations which are triggered randomly after each other
1. THE CHEESE - park sometimes is just unplayable because you're always playing against some cheesy-ass 95 OVR lockdowns who only score by exploiting the game. Examples: the dumb screens which feel like a black hole because you always get sucked into them. Also the bodyblocking: they just hold the ball in the park, run around the guy with the ball and you get body-blocked by him or even by your teammate. veri nice
2. the shot contests suck. In the beginning, the contest system was actually good but now, it's terrible sometimes. Defenders jump around in the paint and still contest your three (unless you're a Stretch Big, then you're op anyways)
3. you can't make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ layup. You either have to do a 360 dunk as a slasher (or lockdown ofc) or you're going to miss. I mean, how many NBA players miss open layups (Tony Allen excluded)? You should either get blocked, which is fine most of the times, or make it, but don't miss a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ layup, we're all NBA players
4. the reach-in fouls still suck (unless you're a lockdown)
5. pass interceptions suck, you just can't catch the ball - I get so many deflections with my playshap in the rec center, but the ball always gets back to the offensive players and they end up with an open shot (unless you're a lockdown)
6. LOCKDOWNS. My friend is playing one and they're just way too overpowered. The defense of course is strong, that's fine, but how come that my friend almost always is our topscorer as a build, that isn't supposed to be a good scorer? Hitting 3s, posterizing defenders, no problem for lockdowns (that's why he gets called a cheater)
7. the refs obviously suck, which is realistic
8. the AI defense - sometimes they don't even try to contest a Steph Curry or a Klay Thompson. When they're guarding YOU tho, every Isaiah Thomas suddenly becomes a lockdown defender (which I obviously like very much).
Also, the offball-defenders reach way too much and I feel like that hasn't been the case in the beginning. It doesn't matter if it's MyTeam or MyCareer, I'm doing good on guarding my guy, he drives to the hoop and suddenly some Willie Hernangomez thinks that he has to grab my guy's arm. I'm always very happy about that, especially when the shotclock is at 3
9. the commentators - still re_tarded, say the same crap
10. the (non-existent) matchmaking in rec center
11. last year, floaters were kinda op but this year, you can have HOF tear dropper and still brick them. They're useless which is ♥♥♥♥, because you can't make layups either
12. the time-out bug after park/rec game STILL exists. Just like in 2k18 not for everyone though, but for me & many other players if you don't do a gym exercise before playing, you will most likely time out after the freeze after a park or rec center game. As I said, this bug existed for many players already in NBA 2k18 and it's sad that 2k can't even fix that ♥♥♥♥

13. the dumb illegal screen calls - so this was added some months ago and I have NO clue why. I guess, they wanted to nerf the screens because you always get sucked into them, even when the ballhandler goes to the opposite side (and they are kinda cheesy esp. in the park, as I said), but that hasn't changed AT ALL. You still get pulled into the screen as if you were a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ magnet but NOW, some screens get called a "illegal screen" for no reason - you can set the screen, take your hands off your controller, the ballhandler waits for 10 minutes and it'll still get called. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

14. Obviously the VC, you need them for everything (except hair cuts, which is good) and they are way too expensive to buy and too hard to earn, especially when you have more than one MyCareer player
15. IT'S JUST TOO MUCH. To make progress with your MyPlayer, you need VC, MyPoints and fans. The "skills" are affected by the attributes (which can be boosted for a few games by buying boosts) and the badges; you also need a good jumpshot to hit your shots. For MyTeam, there are MT (currency only for MyTeam) and also VC, which you can use to buy packs. Cards can only be bought with MT. For "skill groups" in MyCareer online modes, there is the park rank, the rec center rank, the cages rank and of course your player's overall. You can also create or join a crew, then you'll have a crew rank as well. Idk it's just too much ♥♥♥♥, that doesn't really say anything. There are Elite 3 cheaters, Elite 3 trash players and Amateur 1 gods. 89 OVR Amateur 2? Nahhh I ain't playin with you *doesn't pass the ball* *bricks 7 stepback threes* *calls amateurs cheaters*
17. the "fans" at the games?? I mean, come on, they just look SO bad
18. the catch animations. It's more likely that you catch the ball this year than in 2k18. But sometimes you get a wide open pass by a playmaker for a wide open shot and you need 2 seconds to catch it because it arrives 20 inches above your head. Of course you're not open anymore and if you still shoot it, you'll obviously brick the shot
19. EVERYONE can shoot. Our Rebounding Rim-Protector hits one corner three after another. How is a Dwight Howard-build consistently hitting threes?

[to be continued (maybe)]

thank you everyone for your attention
