This game is amazing. As my first soulslike game, I had an absolute blast getting my ass kicked over and over. I think this game is absolutely worth a play, however it is not without its flaws.

Pros:

Graphics. This game is absolutely stunning almost all of the time. It is hard to find an area in this game that doesn't look so good that you want to take a screenshot.

Soundtrack. Whether your in the middle of the starting area listening to that calming violin, or hearing the bosses beginning 15 seconds of their theme for the 50th time, this game's ost slaps.

Combat. I had no idea what I was missing having not played soulslike combat before. Not once have I played a game where I so consistently blamed my own skill as the player rather than the challenge presented before me. The first boss breaks you down and builds you back up, until you come out the other end a more skilled and accomplished player. No feeling compares.

Cons:

The framerate. Capped 60fps is a huge bummer for a modern pc port, and considering this game will have the occasional frame drop and stutter regardless of what you run it on, I can kind of see why.

Diffiuculty scaling. A lot of the late game bosses and areas can feel extremely difficult if you are just following your way through the story, and it can feel limiting to have to grind certain areas or look up a new build guide in order to simply have a chance in some cases. Bosses with large AOE attacks that make melee play extremely difficult can be frustrating to go against depending on your build, especially if you are not playing with summons.

NPC questlines. Having to use a piece of paper and a pen to keep track of your progress throughout a quest, or have the wiki open on your second monitor, sucks. I ran into quite a few cases where I had softlocked a quest line due to some other quest I had partially progressed and forgot about. I don't think the addition of a journal or something that keeps track of what quests you are doing would be immersion breaking, certainly not as much as having the wiki open on your second monitor.

Conclusion:

I think anyone can find a certain amount of enjoyment out of this game. The open world nature makes it easy to take a break from your challenges and come back stronger. Even with my gripes, this game is still amazing and I can't recommend it enough.

If you love yourself or value your time/wallet, steer clear of this game.

Honestly equally as frustrating and rewarding as getting over it. Had a blast with this one.

I literally didn't think a game like this could get better after playing REmake 2, but here we are.
Worth it on sale, off sale, it doesn't matter. This game rules. No idea why I wasn't playing these games earlier.
