This game looks like a soft X-COM clone. It's not overly complex and combat is fun, so if you're looking for a linear tactical turn-based game with a low barrier of entry, this might be a good choice. However, there is a very annoying lag going on every time you click something, and I can't recommend the game until this is fixed.

UPDATE 04/30/2015: The game is easy to get into, but it's pretty challenging, which is a plus. It's not really fair to compare it to Shadowrun Returns, but if you're coming from SR, imagine that game without the role-playing aspects and with a total focus on combat (including online multiplayer capabilities). In fact, this game even succeeds in a few areas where SR/FD fall flat: I've played SR as a decker and was frustrated because my abilities weren't very useful in combat, but deckers in Shadowrun Chronicles have some pretty interesting skills to affect the flow of the battle and are way more fun to play than in SR.

I don't really like the voices, but thankfully the developers allow us to mute the characters. Music fits the game pretty well up to now, I even lowered the sound effects (which are also good). The graphics are good but lack polish, as you'll see lots of clipping (it gets REALLY weird at times), but what really matters is the action, and it looks solid.

Chronicles has a few rough edges, but the core of it (the combat) is fun, deep and works fine. There is still lag while I write this, but the developers are hard at work on the game and I believe this and other minor problems will soon be fixed. If you like turn-based combat games, like the Shadowrun universe and is not expecting much in terms of exploration and role-playing, you'll probably have a blast with this. It's still a "not recommended" because the lag is still a thing, but as soon as it's fixed I'll change this into a "recommended".
