As someone who never thought I'd be playing this over E:D, I'm happy to be proven absolutely wrong. This game has come so far and puts all the other space games I hoped would scratch this particular itch to shame.

Destiny 2 is basically FOMO - The Game. With micro-transactions added in.

Removing paid for content should be illegal, whatever your excuses. Sunsetting paid for DLC is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Started off fine. Then became a cash grab. Gave up playing when 1.0 dropped full of bugs and crap. All the devs have focused on is additional ways to monetize. The game is still a broken, buggy mess..

It's like XCom and Mark of the Ninja had a child together - a turn-based stealth game where you try to infiltrate corporations with your squad of hackers, and whatnot.

The campaign is short-ish - it took me about 6 hours to get through the beginner mode. However, the game is extremely replayable, with you unlocking different characters / items / programs every game - somewhat like Dungeon of the Endless. Multiple different difficulty levels exist as well as custom games, which give you a tonne of options.

The artstyle is awesome - it's somehow both typical Klei (Don't Starve, Mark of the Ninja) while being completely unique from both of those titles.

All in all, this is a fantastic game. Even after just playing Beginner Mode, I'm totally sold on it.

Terribly buggy game. Doesn't work at normal resolutions, hangs most of the time if you try to change resolution. Half of the screen doesn't show up, so you end up activating doors blindly hoping you are at the right location.

TLDR: Elite Dangerous is a time suck, attention suck and mind suck of Lovecraftian proportions; enter it at your peril.

I am convinced that somewhere in the depths of the code of E:D there is an animated version of the elder god David Braben sitting there, rubbing its tentacular appendages with glee.

The game seems to be designed with a preternatural ability to steal time from its players... I often imagine that the game's design is fuelled by some arcane ritual designed to elongate Braben's life, as he clammily clutches at millions of tiny moments stolen from his player-base.

If you play this game, you will find yourself losing minutes, days, months, years and even decades, leaving behind soulless voids filled with empty clicks as your time tumbles into the gaping maw that is E:D.

The fact that this game could be seen as a technical marvel in sound design and procedural generation, while simultaneously BEING UNABLE TO MAKE A FRAKKING "LOAD ALL" button after 5+ years, is a testament to how committed to stealing your time, the cult of Braben truly is.

I have given in to the dreams and hallucinations of a space game that has all the beauty of E:D and all of the actual gameplay of a real game (as opposed to an autoclicker's wet-dream this monstrosity turned out to be) multiple times since 2016, when I first bought it. Every time, I regretted losing bits of my soul to the dark unknowable creatures that run FDev...

Run, run young adventurer. You wish not to become like me.

This game reminds of Firefly most times I play it. Especially the episode "out of Gas" when I'm stuck drifting because my engine room is shot up and depressurised along with my health bay...
