I'm always looking for new VN's to play through. Sadly, though, Steam isn't exactly known for a diverse range when it comes to these kinds of titles, but there are the rare instances where we get something worth the price of purchase; I'm happy to say that Sound of Drop -fall into poison- is such a case where I was pleased with what I got.

There are probably those that might brush this title if they don't enjoy VN's where there is no audio for the characters, but aside from that (and that it is little criminally short for a single playthrough, though the implementation of New Game+ always adds replay-ability) there is little bad I can say about the game.

The artwork is surreal and vibrant, the backgrounds are sublime to look at (especially in the various aquarium booths), character design is always colorful and not an eyesore. The CG's are also well done and the one's depicting gore, death or violence aren't overkill, but designed well enough to be considered nightmare fuel (and there are definitely some noteworthy ones).

Sound in this game is a bit on the neutral side of the spectrum. There were definitely tracks that stood out among the rest. The various piano arrangements were soothing, and the frantic paced ones played in critical moments added tension and a sense of dread of what might be about to unfold. The biggest point has to go the games end theme and menu theme. I don't really purchase all that many soundtracks for games, but I made an exception solely for ending and opening themes.

I won't go too much into the characters and story as I believe these points are best left for people to experience themselves and formulate an opinion on their one. Also, and anything I say about the characters or story would be a little biased, but I will say that each character is unique and the concept of a 'haunted' aquarium i something that sounds incredibly interesting. But since I recommend this game, you'd probably gather that I wouldn't have much to dislike about it.

Finally, I wanted to gloss over one of the games biggest selling points - the endings, namely, how many bad endings this game has. If you read the description about this game, you would've noticed one of the features is the fact that it has over 30 endings with the majority (more like 90%) of them being bad endings.
The various bad endings were quite interesting and, of course, quite gruesome and very specifically detailed. Though there were a few endings that were essentially the same as others, the amount of creativity that went into the bad endings is very terrifying. Without spoiling too much, some of them included decapitation, poisoning from various aquatic creatures, being torn apart by a squid, stung to death by jellyfish, drowning (lots of drowning) and even some acts of cannibalism. It tends to get more and more gruesome the further you go.

Overall, Sound of Drop -fall into poison- is a game that I can't recommend enough, especially for those who get a kick out of horror stories, disturbing imagery and blood and gore. Even if you don't fall into any of those categories, it's still worth the price.
