This is a pretty good game, but not even as good as Civ IV, V, or VI were at launch -- and those games only became truly excellent after their DLC came out (sometimes not even until the second DLC). It's fun enough, but probably worth waiting until the DLC (or at least, don't become too disappointed with the base game, and come back to it when the DLC comes out). Engine, graphics, sound were all great -- it's just lacking in game mechanics.

Early Access Review
Early Access and a single developer but already a great game -- visually stunning, good core gameplay, and seems pretty clear what direction it'll evolve in. Will come back and try every few months.

On launch day this feels as fully featured as Skylines I did after years of DLC. Will be interesting to see how far they take this version!

Updated: Just beat the game. It's pretty good overall -- about as good as it seemed in the beginning. 8/10, Skyrim, Fallout, GTA were 9-9.5/10. Overall, glad the team created it, and glad I completed playing it.

Strongly recommend. This isn't my favorite RPG to date (Skyrim, Fallout, and to a degree, even the best of the GTA series are still better), but it's a new one, a great universe to explore, a strong main plot and a few decent side quests, and solid core gameplay, controls, and mechanics. This will probably get better with mods (yay, PC), but enjoying playing it now. I really wish this game had come out a few years ago when there was no travel, glad I have a new gaming laptop with a 4090 to play it on now.

I've been a fan of ADOM for well over a decade (and roguelikes before that); bought the Steam edition to support the developer, and enjoy playing it more than the standalone version.

Cat Quest is one of my favorite RPG series -- it's cute, filled with cute cat puns, has fun and easy-to-learn combat mechanics, and has a really nice plot driving the game. The "two player" mechanic in Cat Quest II was a great addition, and I'm looking forward to Cat Quest III.

Amazing plot, beautiful graphics, great characters. A video game better than any movie from Hollywood.

Finished the game on one path of endings. Unfortunately after beating the game there isn't much point in continuing to do random sidequests; maybe I'll revisit once I have a newer computer with better graphics card. I think I'll play Witcher 3 and finish Red Read Redemption 2 first, though. Cyberpunk definitely goes in the great franchises category with these, Fallout, GTA, Skyrim.

This is a 2-d side scroller with an interesting plot which is also serving as a testbed for the soda-based summer steam sale economy (there's an exploit where a simple action in game earns pretty massive achievement points, and we know how people love Magical Internet Points.)

This game is maybe 90% as complex as Dwarf Fortress but vastly more accessible for new players. Overall, I think it is the best "base building/settlement/etc." game available.

CS:GO Review
The engine definitely shows its age, but there are fresh maps, modes, and this remains one of the top competitive FPSes.
