Early Access Review
There is only one game that has ever hit like playing ADoM as a 10 year old and that is Caves of Qud.

Completely engrossing. An absolute 10/10. If you like Roguelikes but can't get into the old school ASCII art and keyboard only controls, CoQ hits that middle ground smoothly. Modern UI and interface for using a mouse, a robust in-game help manual, easy pre-sets... the learning curve of a true Rogue is still there, but it is way less intimidating than when the genre started. I've died to enormous sentient laser pyramids, brokered deals with talking lilypads. Grown fungus all over my body, spilling hot wax and also telling me secrets. Four arms? Four axes. Don't want to choose between decapitation or flying around with a sniper rifle? Then don't! Hell, if you want to play a quantum void traveler who randomly creates void portals that teleport you to completely unknown places, go for it! You might land in a jungle, some ruins, or 12 levels under the ground beset by monsters who can kill you with a single psychic glance. Keep it simple, play it in low combat mode and explore to find new recipes for the campfire. There are a few ways we can do this and the choice... is... yours!
