Probably the best top down twin stick shooter co op action out there. I'm surprised it's not more popular than it already is.

GOOD
+ Great diverse gameplay - 3 alien races to fight, 4 player slots that can be filled by local or online friends (or online matchmaking), 12 mission levels of difficulty, multiple objective types, dozens of weapons and abilities to unlock (through mission progression) and upgrade (by picking up research samples)
+ Good balance of choice in strategies and loadouts - while some weapons and abilities (or stratagems) are better than others, none of them are OP and most of them are quite useful in certain situations
+ Emphasis on teamwork - mid to high level missions become way too tough for solo play, and 4 players using the same screen with friendly fire on means that everyone either learns to properly cooperate or dies repeatedly
+ Quite hilarious - think of Magicka in a Starship Troopers setting
+ Endless replay value - missions are procedurally generated, enemies are endless and all individual players contribute their efforts to a global war effort (that can be won or lost, depending on player performance) - this is a game you can play long term in quick short sessions
+ Nice DLCs - all of them add nice weapons and stratagem packs that expand the already diverse base game

BAD
- While you are encouraged to cooperate with online players as best you can, the in-game reputation system doesn't really add up to anything - all the positive and/or negative feedback you get expires after a week, so why bother?
- There's also unfortunately a drop-off point where all samples become pointless (after completing all upgrades) and they'll just keep up adding in your inventory (especially due to group play) for nothing

In short, a must buy for 4 player gaming sessions.
