Darkest Dungeon has an incredible hold on its themes and identiy. One of the most faithful Lovecraft games to date; the atmosphere is dripping with dread and despair while proding the player's morbid curiosity. The game can feel "grindy" but I feel that it reinforces the themes of hopelessness. Gameplay is tough but there are plenty of tools at the player's disposal to overpower the monsters. Abandon the habits and attitudes of past RPG's, and victory will surely be yours.
