Horror tag is because of the wait times.

10/10 would "bumm" again.

I am honestly conflicted about this DLC. It added so much content it feels like a separate game altogether, but also brought some stuff I consider unwelcome.

But let me start from the beginning.

The good.

First thing a late-game player will notice is a new path they can take after Basement I. The first time I took it I was simply blown away, Downpour is just... beautiful. It might just be my love for rain, but the melancholic atmosphere really got me. From now on the game got way harder than I expected. Its alternative floor - Dross is fine, I guess. I like the colors, but the music is kina meh.

The Mines is great. The music's catchy, the gimmicky enemies are really fun and the new bosses are really creative. Its alternative is really nothing special. It's just OK.

The Mausoleum is the other highlight of this DLC. Not only is it just gorgeous looking, it also has one of the most memorable trachs in the game. It's also really, really hard. Just believe me. Gehenna on the other hand... well, I don't hate it, although it's even harder and not as atmosperic.

Corpse is another level that I enjoyed greatly. It's got that gloomy vibe to it, that just makes the whole experience that much more imersive. All the enemies fit in perfectly. In particular - the unborn. It's artsy in a way.

Home . Not really a floor, rather a narrative episode. I liked it.

The monsters.

TONS of them. Every single one is designed to make you life that much harder. That includes bosses. There are variants of existing enemies and completely new creatures. Prepare to get hit a lot. And die even more.

The designs are really cool. I especially like the Bishops.

The bosses are... ok I guess. The only one I can say I really liked is Dogma . Others are not bad, but some can be really frustrating to fight.

The Not-So-Good

As I mentioned before, enemies hit hard, and there are a lot of them. To get to Mausoleum you are ging to need nearly gamebreaking combination of items and a lot of health. Cheap hits are just unavoidable, trust me. I tried.

The same applies for the bosses. If Isaac was bullet-hell before, now it is the ninth circle thereof. I guess I have to thank the devs for adding a lot of tear-blocking items. have I mentioned cheap hits? The worst offenders are the Mother , Bumbino and Mom's heart (no, the other one). Do you like Tohou? You'll love this.

A lot of items have been altered/nerfed/chaged. Some have become just awesome. Holy water + BFFs now blocks enemy shots, and you can throw it too! That's how I killed MS as Bethany. Some chages are not that great, howerver. 20/20 now lowers your damage. Satanic bible turns boss items into devil deals. GB bug rerolls enemies. An so on. The dev mentioned that we'd love some and hate some. Well, hate I did, indeed.

Bethany. She's basically Keeper Mk2. No soul/black hearts, period. Her only strengths are her wisps and the fact that she gets angels deals more frequently. The only reason to pick her is to try wisp synergies.

Jacob&Esau. Christ. It's like having Isaac's heart that can linger behind, get stuck on the rocks and die. If one of them dies, so does the other, their heath is separate. So are their items. That woud open some great opportunities for building a glass cannon/tank combo, but their hitbox is so large and their health is twice as fragile. It's frustrating to no end. I have beaten Delirium as The Keeper. I know how to play this game. I cannot beat Moms ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Heart (that one) as those guys.

All in all, it's not bad. It just needs polish. A lot of it.
