Another fantastic game from ENIGMA STUDIO! I played the first one, The Enigma Machine when it came out and was instantly hooked.

Echostasis continue the story, taking you on another mind-bending adventure that really messes with you. It answers a lot of questions, but also leaves you with several new ones. Crossing my fingers we will see more games in this universe as there is a lot left to explore.

While the game might look like it's a shooter, it's a lot more than that, and the combat is only an isolated part of it in the grand scheme of things. Almost all of the game's story is delivered through text with codewords, and you should play the previous games before you play this one. This is a good game for people who are looking for a game that plays with futurism, AI and transhumanism as topics.

If you enjoy the previous games, this one will be a treat!

Good game, although it's really buggy, so keep that in mind. There's several ways to softlock or glitch your controls which I personally only managed to fix by completely reinstalling the game.

Game has no save function, because of this you must play it in one sitting. While the game isn't super long, it's longer than I thought for a game of this price - this is a plus but makes the no saving really awful, pair that with the fact that you may end up completely locked out by various bugs it can feel like a bit of a drag. One of the most notable bugs I had 2 times now was if you skip dialogue with fast forwarding(hitting space or clicking on the screen) you can end up glitching your UI making you completely unable to progress, in which case the only fix for me past that point was reinstalling as it would happen from that point on regardless of if I skipped dialogue or not.

Game is definitely a gem, it's got a cool concept and I appreciate the homage to Silent Hill: The Room, which for its time was a innovative and ambitious project. It gives very vaporwave, muted pixels, PS(not ps2 imo) vibes. It's an interesting creative piece of art that was surprisingly well made, bugs aside.

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews, while the game has some strong points I was just like many other people here, wholly convinced this was gonna be on amnesia/SOMA level. And unfortunately, it's not. I think my biggest gripe with the game was that I was not prepared for how linear the experience would be. Don't get me wrong, not every game needs an open world, and these kind of horror games most often than not don't. I was fooled by the first few minutes of the game, by scouring the rooms and looking for things to interact with, this made me think that it was going to keep that kind of gameplay going but it didn't. I am unsure if it's due to time constraints or something but if you're going to make a walking simulator(which this game is, and I am not saying that as a bad thing because I love many walking sims) you need to have that extra padding of delivering narrative and worldbuilding through notes and other ways to interact.

This is one of those games that if you are obsessed with Lovecraft you will eat it up, but if existential deep sea horror isn't something that necessarily frightens you, you probably wont enjoy the game at the current price because it doesn't offer anything besides another take on H.P Lovecraft's many "horror" stories. I always spend about 3 times longer in a game than what is the actual gameplay, because I'm one of those who love collecting every little thing and bit of lore I can get my hands on. This game doesn't have that, which sucks.

To be honest, I think this game would have been much better if it had a bigger budget and was made as a narrative style game(Detroit, Heavy Rain, etc) because I feel like it's a game that doesn't fit the current gameplay mode at all and it feels like it's supposed to be more visually stunning. Actually this game would even be better as a fixed camera Silent Hill style, even.

A relatively short point and click horror mystery game. Was surprisingly good and enjoyed it a lot. Well worth the full price IMO (:

You know what? This game is so cooky, and goofy and honestly it's a joy. It's actually a really funny game, the comments are cooky and the comedy is really there, I really recommend it as a good comedy movie.

I was initially disappointed by finishing the first act, but decided to give it another go and get through that as well. After I figured out how to cheat the game with Oroborous, I got off the second act quickly and realised the game is so much better than I thought. Somehow in my mind, like a lot of others were having so much fun in act 1 we kind of got completely blinded and assumed the whole game was now a 2D game with bunch of new cards that, if you don't cheat the game, is actually really difficult. Well, I proceeded and just got even more hooked than I already had.

So if you are like me and made the big mistake of quitting when you hit act 2, power through it. I promise it's worth it!

LOVE this game. My ADHD brain could never, so I haven't gotten past the first boss. But this game is such a sensory journey.

For the current price this game is not worth the price. Don't get me wrong, I think the game is good, but after playing it some I realised the only reason I have that many hours is because this game is grindy af. It's very cute, and the base is great. I love their vision and idea but we are almost in 2024 and these very solid ideas and features are yet to see the light.

The game technically has a story, but it has no substance or feel. You cannot customise your dwelling, or really get too immersed in its current state. The days are the same, it's the same stuff every day, and the end goal is to make the philosopher salt. But there isn't really any reason to, other than of course making it end.

It has some very strong and fun aspects already in the game that they hopefully build upon(but also actually release, this is really important). I think the dev team is suffering from overcomplicating and too many ideas that they don't seem able to ship any of it in a reasonable time. I'll definitely change my review once they actually ship these elusive features.

But as it stands, it's OK. And that's kinda it. It's VERY VERY shallow, something really unfortunate in a game that's a full on roleplaying game. Roleplaying games need substance, they can't survive on number grinding alone, it leaves you feeling very unsatisfied. Despite 40 hours I have no desire to finish it, there is no point.
