Absolutely addictive. making giant, ridiculous factories is great, and this one boils it down to just that. no player character, no survival, just factory.

Only factory.

An engaging puzzle-platformer with lightweight combat, and an all-ages fairy-tale story. great for casual gameplay, works great on steamdeck, and honestly, quite fun.

I cannot in good faith recommend this game. The developers are beholden to a company which has shown itself to be untrustworthy and fickle when it comes to whom it will allow to continue playing the game. Sony has demonstrated a thorough contempt for customers, and an even more severe contempt for the concept of game ownership by said customers.

Additionally, the game is poorly optimized, and causes severe heat issues in some processors on which even more graphically intensive games have no issues.

Finally, the constant "nerfs" in the name of some ephemeral concept of "balance" constantly remove the "fun" of what is essentially a PVE horde mode.

I can't, in good conscience, recommend that anyone purchase it.

what if minecraft were grindier, with tech trees, and advancing was a function of mechanics that waiting on real world time? Oh, and you're forced to specialize AND locked out of really important things because of that specialization? Hope you have friends that play!

that sound like your cup of tea? then here ya go.

this is the kind of game crazy people own on multiple platforms. Crazy people like me. It's great. One of the best indie games of the last decade.

10 / 10.

A clear choice for game of the year. It's smart, it's involved, it's massive in all the right ways, and it's the kind of CRPG experience that comes along once every couple of decades at best. Do yourself a favor, and play it.

I have put a lot of time in this lovely game. It's peaceful, and if you're a fan of the board game Carcassonne, you'd be a fan of this one. just lovely.

Current review:

The most frustrating bugs appear to be resolved as of the most recent patch. that changes my review to "yeah, this is fun, I recommend giving it a shot"

Previous review: As of this writing, I cannot recommend that other people pick up and play this game for a few reasons:

1) There are numerous and overlapping technical problems related to game resolution. Between myself and another friend, we have tried this with 7 different PCs on multiple monitors, with everything from RTX 3080 or equivalent AMD graphics, down to integrated monther board graphics in a non-gaming laptop. The same issues persist across all of the hardware.

and

2) when these bugs are brought to the developer's attention, they blame (in order) 3rd party software (aka, Nvidia Geforce Experience or similar), HDMI cables (we tested with display port as well), and the monitors themselves.

Given the ability to replicate this bug across multiple platforms and the sheer intransigence of the developer when it comes to addressing said basic bugs, I have no hope that these will be resolved in any reasonable time-frame.

This is one of those games where the Rogue-Lite elements make the experience just that much more enjoyable, combined with a retelling of a very old, very classic story. The Characters, the soundtrack, the level design and general ambiance is wonderful. The voice acting is excellent. I strongly recommend playing this one.

Time Played: 55 Minutes

Impressions: Looks like good 16 bit pixel retro art. Very pretty, nice animations. Constant insults and put downs of the main character are off-putting. Keyboard and Mouse controls are generally OK - but probably plays better with a controller. The Flying takes away from the platforming, leaving this game rather forgettable.

Would I play it again: Maybe, if I were bored and wasn’t interested in a more traditional platforming experience.

Quick Rating: 4 of 7
