it's hard to explain why, but this is one of my favourite games ever. it's not particularly exciting mechanically or easy to understand. but there's something about its atmosphere, its deeply harrowing electronic reverbs, its distant lights, its distorted visuals, its constant cuts and jarring sound design, that appeals to me a lot.

this feels like driving down a highway and taking a stop in the middle of nowhere, in a small gas station in the middle of the night. nobody is here, but you feel like there should be. but nothing happens. you drive away. and only when you think about that moment much later do you remember what horrors you saw.

Gunplay and general combat is very fun. Very short and limited though. Probably more worth to just get the sequel.

it's 3 great games in one. the always online feature is a PLAGUE and the worst part of this game but the game itself is one of the most enjoyable and dynamic experiences i've had in a game.

Leagues better than anything the basegame missions have to offer. It's its own little espionage film within Cyberpunk. The presentation, the area, the quests, the music, the ACTING, all of it feels like a huge jump in quality and presentation from the rest of the game. Don't expect anything super long, but it's still one of my favorite gaming experiences ever, even if I wasn't huge on the main game's storyline.

Easily the best Soulslike I've ever played. Imo when it comes to combat and weapon mechanics, this game triumphs virtually every single Fromsoft game - and that's not an exaggeration.

It's got the movement-heavy dodging and customization / stat distribution of Dark Souls / Elden Ring. It's got the deflection / blocking / stamina system from Sekiro (with a twist to up the skill required and to make it align better with the more traditional souls-esque mechanics). It's got a similar health regain mechanic to Bloodborne that emphasizes constant aggression, and similar weapon functionality (with more customization).

Its story and art direction, imo, is absolutely fantastic, and the music you find on vinyls throughout is nice too. I think where this game really falls off, though, is area variety. Though the combat, enemy variety and level design is on par with, if not better than, Fromsoft's games, I think the actual visuals are a little lacking. Though it's very graphically impressive - certainly moreso than Elden Ring - it struggles to make full use of that graphical fidelity to its full potential. Most areas feel very similar. Some areas seem like they're going to have potential only to end up being the same drab, desaturated tunnel / city street / wooden-plank-platform area. Its areas also don't feel lived-in or real in any way, making the whole experience somewhat video-gamey, turning what could be very cool areas into somewhat boring paths that lead from boss to boss.

That being said, the bosses are excellent, as are the enemies. If you're willing to live with areas that are about as colorful as half of Dark Souls III, you'll have a great time.
