I think Outer Wilds might be the best game I've ever played. I don't think I've ever seen a game that succeeds on all levels. Every aspect of the game is from the art style to the music to the narrative to the gameplay is amazing, and what's more, it manages to effortlessly combine gameplay and narrative in a way I don't think I've ever seen before.

A constant theme running through the narrative is this feeling of curiosity about the universe and the unknown and the game simultaneously induces this exact feeling in the player since it's a game all about exploring and learning. It does an amazing job at inducing this childlike sense of wonder and joy as you explore all these unique planets and figure out things that the game hasn't explicitly told you but it trusts that you'll figure out from your own experience in the game world.

At its core It's a game about exploring and there's no fluff, no survival mechanics, no crafting, no farming, no skill trees or leveling just you, your ship and your suit and equipment. The only progress that you make in the game is by learning more and if you already know everything you could beat the game in ~half an hour. This makes for an amazing blind first playthrough as you stumble through this dense world filled with information and you get many amazing moments where things starts to make sense and you feel like all progress is earned, but it also makes for very low replayablity and a high spoilerability of the game which is why everyone is being really vague when recommending it and telling you to go in as blind as possible.

I'm also impressed with just how fun the gameplay is. Most games that goes for a more experimental narrative tend to neglect the gameplay part of their game but the zero g movement(Protip, you can use left trigger to rotate clockwise/anticlockwise) and all the physics based puzzles feel great and it's a joy to fly from planet to planet, exploring and connecting the dots and finding out more about the Nomai.

It's a game that will stay with you for years to come and an amazing example at how to do game design right and make the most use of the unique nature of videogames as a medium to tell stories; The interactivity. The way it tells it's story would not be anywhere near as effective in any other medium.

I can't recommend this game enough and you should all play it.
