It's good, buy it. The biggest heads up I would give is that it has a lot of trial and error and it's completely linear. I didn't mind either of these qualities at all. The level design is good and pretty much every boss is great except for like one or two. Open world games have been so saturated in the market lately that I'm honestly relieved to see a contained linear action game with a small scope that it excels at. If you liked Elden Ring, Sekiro, or any souls game you'll like the combat here. It's just different enough to have its own learning curve.

If I have any real gripes to give, it'd probably be that the environments get a little stale after a while and that some strength weapons feel excessively slow.

Overall good game with a satisfying, varied combat system and a lot of room for player choice and experimentation. Unfortunately, the game suffers from padding and some frustrating areas near the latter parts which might shy some players away. The balance of the game is a little questionable, with farming generally being more rewarding than actually exploring and lategame enemies dealing obscene damage and forcing you to powerlevel the health stat. All in all, despite its shortcomings I would still recommend Elden Ring to anyone who is a fan of action adventure games, likes a challenge, or just wants more Souls gameplay.

Souls games are often touted nonstop for their difficulty, which I think gives some outsiders an impression that they're just nonstop masochism. If you're interested in trying but concerned about the difficulty of the game, I would encourage you to just pick it up and give it a go anyway. Fromsoft games are tough, but not as impossibly hard as people present them to be.
