I loved this game, the way it kept me guessing, the turns, the genre switches and in the end it was all fluid. The way they do the "level select" in a way that it doesn't even unimmerse you to go to really is amazing. I was shocked at how smoothly they were able to tranisition scenes as I turned around, the world building around me. And no this game didn't help with a fear of manniquens.

The story as said, kept me guessing the entire way through. However before the story revealed what happened, i was able to piece it together myself with hypothesis' and facts which when found out was correct or incorrect made me feel very smart.

The music is great, i love its immersive feeling and ability to swap from horror to mystery to common british home-y interior. I was singing The Party to myself unknowingly.

The gameplay also was fluid and smooth, aside from the "corner gun" being pushed in my face with its plot point, i decided for my first playthough to be a more stealthy approach. The game allows you to take the direction you want as well as using a cool "memory" mechanic of correcting the memory to place objects in the way of enemies to help your sleuthing.
The graphics, i enjoy quite abit. I would say it is on the tier of Fallout 4 if you need something for comparison, however not just the people but the weapondry, the world assets, and the enviroment are beautiful.

Overall I love it, and I call it a hidden gem on steam. More people need to play this!

The successor to the first game, i must say falls short.

Before buying it, take note that the ending requires thought and digging. If you play through it, missing and not reading notes, you will be confused at what happened, why it happened and what made it happe in the end game.

Storywise aside from that it has its moments of fun chases, heart clenching hiding bits and of course player dismemberment.
The music as always was gripping and suspenseful, keeping me immersed through my entire gameplay.
Speaking of gameplay, it is fluid and if you played Outlast 1, you will have no issues playing this one.
Regarding graphics, it is a step up from the first game, however still on the same ladder of looks.

I enjoy how the game takes us outside of a single building, expanding into the world however keeps the Outlast feel and scare. The characters developed well and in the end I am not dissapointed getting this day one.

Don't buy this game full price, it is too overpriced, even 90% off is even stretching it,
The game is 7 copies of get the keycard style level. In a Duke Nukem 3D style gameplay,
Each level is as unmemorable as the previous,
Consisting of 5 different weapons (the shotgun being the most enjoyable to use),
Using the same 5 enemy models which teleport in.

This game is a meme, It is enjoyable if you go in thinking of it that way. Between the bad voice acting to bad predictable plot I can enjoy this game for what it is, which is a condensed shoot n' run but nothing more. I did like the nostalgiaesque Dook Nukem 3D vapourwave music.

Now to note; after looking at the achievements, there were things I missed, such as finding the truth of what happened to earth and resisting the forces. Possibly there is more then what appears at first sight.

I played it, i loved it. I feel morose after, the story kept me wanting to go despite it being simply a walking simulator.

Only buy this game on sale, to be honest no it isn't worth full price. Not even half, not because the game is bad, but because it is only 1.6 hours long sprinting and reading everything.

Summary:
The gameplay is running and walking with the occasional E press.
It kept me wondering what happened until the end,
the puzzles wern't too long and I didn't get board of doing them.
The music was pleasent and the free soundtrack is just icing on the cake.
This game made me feel empathy for a man who has delt with nightmares of his past.
The voice acting is great, and the graphics are pretty stock unreal graphics so nothing to argue there.

Do I regret buying it? No
Will I go back through it and try to get the last achievement? No

I can't remember how I found this game, so I call it a hidden gem on steam.

The story guides you along, so you never have time to settle down in one place, however, the story is fascinating and quite lengthy. The music is nice and sound effects immersive. I purchased the OST just for my collection, however, it isn't something which I listen to daily.

It states it is a survival game, but only for the first part, after a while, you have built up so much water and food there isn't a worry to hunt it down. The horror aspect has its moments, not in the jump scare sense which is nice, but more fear of an alien planet and your defenceless ability. (much like Outlast). The visuals are beautiful (on my 970) and with dynamic weather and day/night cycle, or hostile weather such as meteor showers/tornadoes which cause you to seek shelter making a unique aspect.

Soma is my go-to game when it comes to describing video game storytelling. In all my years of gaming, I have never connected with such a protagonist (Simon). The fact that you are both tossed into the atmosphere allows you to not just embody Simon, but also sympathize and empathize with him. Feeling the anger, the frustration and the loneliness of the unknown.

While the game does have great story, environment, and atmosphere, it lacks in gameplay from time to time. The horror elements do get tiresome after awhile, but do spice it up every so often with a new creature, however, they can all be boiled down to "this one can't see, so be quiet around it", "this one can't hear so stay out of sight", or "this one doesn't like to be looked at, walk around."

The game does have moral decisions throughout it, yet they do not affect the story or the games ending.

In the end I give SOMA

You expand with new powers using emily, or play with old ones using corvo, you unwraval a tale that builds on the last game.

Dishonored 2 utilizes stealth mechanics much better, or go in guns blazing for old times sake. With new enemies such as clockwork robots, as well as mechanical houses, or bloodbugs, the plague still haunts around every corner.

See more then just the kingdom, explore both new and old locations (more new then old) and reatake what is yours as either Corvo or Emily.

Fluid parcour, meets supernatural powers with an assassins viewpoint on a crumbling city.

This game has entertained me for a couple of hours...

[Post-Release Update]
So after playing the official release, i must say I still enjoy it as much as day 1. If you take your time to explore the world of Wellington Wells, you will have hours of humor, combat and entertainment.
The music is a wonderful eerie immersive experience with the retro 60's feel to bring out the lighter side of joy from time to time.
The gameplay is the same as pre-release. With the combat blocking becoming more fluent since post launch, it flows much easier then the pre-alpha days. Sneaking is actually possible now and the characters have their own unique feel.
The graphics remain the same over time with their stylistic look and their 60's feel, neither too real nor too cartoony. The gloom grey of reality compliments the contrasting the feel when on joy and keeps the feeling throughout the games experience.
Every game has its bugs on launch, and if you look only at those faults and not as a whole game, any game will look bad. Luckily Compulsion continues to tirelessly work to iron out them and has never left the game stranded for a day in the past 4 years of development.

[Pre-Release Review]
Been with We Happy Few and Compulsion for awhile now, all of it being an amazing experience, great community, and amazing gameplay. Compulsion stays up to date weekly so you don't feel abandoned by the devs. They take any and all criticism and look into it to make the gameplay better, A masterpiece with the unreal engine, one of the best "early access" you will buy this year's hands down. Who better to make an immersive 1960's game in England then a bunch of french Canadians.
