Gameplay wise it's a definite JRPG labor of love, every enemy introduces something different to combat and abilities have different speed values so your heals and buffs always land before attacking, so it's very dynamic and easy to build a team that can switch strategy on a dime. Definite recommend in general.

Oh and it started life as a My Little Pony fan game so that's an extra gag.

@Ginseng Yeah, pretty much it's basically tumblr the RPG Maker game. The options screen has 0-100 sliders for 'politics' and 'ludonarrative dissonance'.
