Really hope there is a sequel planned for this game because I loved just about every second of it! Great old-school horror, creepy vibes and enemies (with a pretty good variety considering it's about a two hour game on Normal!), I honestly can't recommend this game enough!

Have yet to beat the game but holy heck am I having fun with it! I'm sorry for those who are having issues on PC, but for whatever reason the game runs near flawlessly for me (very occasional FPS drop). Hope they get it fixed for people soon so more people can enjoy the game!

Crazy that I played this game when it first came out in 2009 on my 360, and playing it today feels like it hasn't aged a bit.

This may not be the most helpful review, but do I recommend this game?

Seeing as it quickly made it's way to one of my favorite games of all time with barely a flaw, I would have to say "Abso-freakin'-lutely".

XCOM 2 is a sequel that kept what was awesome about the previous iterations, and only expanded and improved on many of those features. My computer is by no means amazing (2 year old, 600 dollar CyberPower), but even on the "Low" settings, it is a beautiful game. The environments have a very pleasing aesthetic, and most characters/soldiers are only ugly looking if you choose to make them so.

The customization is incredible, and though there could ALWAYS be more options, what they have is enough to create an amazing variety of soldiers and possible VIPs. Every map is different, with many options in terms of verticality and ambush spots, as well as an array of areas where your soldiers get their asses whooped.

Combat is more or less the same, though this time around every specialty feels equally powerful and helpful. The Sharpshooter starting off the class with Squadsight is one of my favorite new things about the change to the classes. Everyone is useful, and every enemy is incredibly deadly. Starting off most of the combat situations in "Concealment" (Where your soldiers are temporarily hidden from enemies and can allow you to set up the perfect ambush) is an interesting and helpful addition to the game, allowing you to take a moment to gain an advantage before realizing that you are completely outnumbered, one of the most exciting parts about the game.

To many people's dismay, there is a feeling of being rushed through many of the missions in the game. A turn timer gives you a reason to push further into a map quicker than you ever would have in the previous games. Sometimes it causes you to step into an enemy's zone of sight, and other times it can mean getting many of your soldiers killed as you move too much and shoot too little. While it makes the game sound nearly impossible, I believe it has added so much more strategy to the game. No more moving everyone up one space and then overwatching. No waiting out for enemies to wander into your path of fire. Every single move you make is critical, as every move can position someone incorrectly or too far away from an objective. I've had to leave some soldiers behind since they were too far from Evac on many occasions.

The strategy layer of the game feels a lot more deep, with a lot going on at once that you can choose to ignore or prioritize. There is still much to research and create in the game, with everything helping to push you closer to your goal.

There are some ****minor**** performance issues (not everyone will agree, of course), like it taking a few seconds longer than it should to move the camera away from a dead enemy or soldiers firing through walls, but none of this takes away from what makes this a great game: The fact that the gameplay itself is fun. Lots of fun. It is much more challenging than Enemy Unknown, but every mission leaves you feeling either accomplished, or crushed. Just the way I like it!
